Hey Rod,
I just ordered a new gadget that "supposed to" beam the display from my computer to the tv.
If it works I'll post the link. I was hoping to use the big screen as my monitor but then realized I could watch anything on it with this device. Comes in on Saturday. I'll let you know.
Thanx BB as always.you never forget bro do you?
Many thanx rod
Hey Amigo,
Hope you're keeping well.
I got that device - not for the uninformed.... I got schooled
OK - it will work if you have a newer tv with HDMI, mine wasn't new enough even though it has the HDMI. So bummer.
I gave one to my brother - it worked on his TV only after he bought a WIFI adapter for 40 bucks, that needed to work off the computer...
I did get the TV to work - I'm sitting in my recliner in my living room right now - working off the big screen.
Been watching some youtube - no commercials!!
Looking at the Forum on the big screen is pretty cool.
I went straight forward cables - an HDMI from the TV to an adapter on the computer's video card, 30 Feet - about 10 meters.
Sound cables from the sound card - I got a 2 into 1, Y - adapter for the speakers, pluged in the second cord (3 x 15 foot 45 feet total length) for the tv and ran it next to the video cable. To connect to the TV I got an adapter that plugs into the sound cord and splits it off into the 2 RCA sound inputs. I know it sounds hoakey - but it works great with what I have.
Most of the options out there were based on new devices and wifi computers - if you have new stuff then it would probably be an easy install.
I was lucky - my computer had a good builder. I only get my computers from one guy and he builds them one at a time with what ever you send him or he tells you is good. He upgraded me to a better video card for the day - it's like 6 years old now - a dinosaur in tech time - but still, that was what made it work.
I was mislead on how this thing worked. It's advertised to work with my stuff. Fortunately my brother had a newer TV and computer. Still, to make it work, you need a USB power adapter - high powered, to power it up (NO mention of this). He had to buy a wifi adapter for the computer, plus you have to have a newer computer or you get no sound. Can't recommend this device to anyone.
