I need your help guys, only a biker can really understand.this I was out for a ride and on checking my mirrors all I could see was a huge truck right behind me.as he passed me he hit me and I was somersaulting through the air, ihit the ground and was bouncing along beside him. My bike disintegrated and he was gone. paramedics got me to hospital and I had emergency op.my side is a mess, leg broken up and sewn up from foot to knee.came out of hospital yesterday and won't walk for a long time
keep reliving the crash and its a nightmare. The bast...d never even stopped. Just needed to talk to other bikers,at the moment my life is in ruins and I don't know if I will ever ride again.its at times like this that you need brothers to talk to, so thanks for helping me through this nightmare.

I had a similar accident the thing cut right in front of me, never stopped but I shredded the deer. Happened in Nov, was riding in March repaired the entire bike in a cast and rode March 31. No problem but my walking is different and I think the deer are afraid of me.

Hey Rod,
Sorry to hear of your mishap. As most, I've had my breaks and operations... I can only say, that time does heal both the body and the mind. The nightmares are normal - I've had them and most of everyone I've talked to that ever had a mishap says they've had them too. The loop plays over and over... it eventually goes away. The bones only heal if you let them, but be careful that you don't let them lock up, keep moving the joints while you sit. Take calcium if you can, it helps the bones mend and get strong again. As for riding again, keep the faith, you'll be on one again.

As for the one that ran you down, Karma is a bitch... they will get theirs - I've seen it in person on many occasions.

Get Better!! :icon_hat:

bikerod,
Sorry to hear about your accident. I have had a few close calls since I got back into riding 6 years ago, but fortunately, nothing that has left a mark. It sounds from your description that you are extremely lucky to have survived the accident. Throwing a leg over again someday will either seem like the right thing to do or it won't....completely up to you. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery and best wishes for the future.

Hey Bro,

Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear that you are out of the hospital! :icon_thumbsup: First DO NOT let this get the best of you. Give it some time to heal do what the doctors tell you and get yourself feeling better. This is the most important thing that you need to do. The bike can always be fixed at any point. Forget about the bike for now.

This is not about me, but most of us that ride have had some kind of spill. I broke enough bones riding bikes and it took me 6 months before I got back on the bike. You will too if that is what you want to do, just do it when your ready and don't be pushed by anyone. The only thing that you need to take away from this is learn for the next time. If you are in a similar position make sure that you are safe. Heal quickly and best wishes. Here is something to cheer you up!
