My sister rides and just bought her first harley after years of riding honda, yamaha cruisers. Well I just found out from our cousin that my sisters "new to her" harley has cause her much grief.

I called her up and it took a while before she would tell me about the drama. Come to find out her son and daughter in law are really bent out of shape cause Sister didn't let them take her bike to Sturgis and they had to ride a honda 750 instead. I think he's riding on a permit..

Sister told me they all used to talk almost everyday and my sister would watch and see grandaughter almost everyday, hasn't spoke or seen any of them since aug 2 ? By end of phone call with Sister I could tell she is really upset to the point of almost crying!

I paid nepfew a visit and he was a little stand-offish ( if thats the word) I didn't bring it up and was waiting to see if he would.

I told my sister that I have a few friends that I would let them take my bike for a quick ride, like around the block, cause we all have known each other forever and have let each other ride our bikes in the past...other than that....no way don't even ask to ride my bike.

.I paid a lot of money for mine and try to take the best care to it I can....
What do you guys think...loan out your bike...

Like you I have some friends that I let ride my bike usually it is a switch I ride their bike and they ride mine at the same time together. But that is as far as it goes. She was right not letting them ride her bike, on a permit no less. Smart judgement on her part. Let them buy their own.

wow....its owners choice. You want to ride a harley buy one. Other than for diagnostic reasons has anyone ridden my bike. Not saying people don't do it or its wrong I can't see borrowing a bike nfor a trip.

I know nepfew and some of his and his wife's friends and they are young and borrow each others boats and cars, swap their old honda's and kaw's motorcycles for the weekend type of thing.

That's fine..but to borrow a $15-20,000 dollar Harley and ride it's several states away in traffic on a permit and sure insurance would lov that if something happened and i'm sure there will be some drinks flowing...maybe they try hot roddin" the bike..parking it way out in some saloon parking hundreds of yards away...crowded parking lots ..scratches from nowhere showing up??

I do it...on my own bike.

Its owners decision... and Sister and I are just jerks I guess!! :icon_laughing:

She did the right thing. It don't matter her reason why she said no, it's her bike and she don't need a reason. Too many kids think they are owed "stuff".

That story reminds me of one when I was a kid. I was working for my old man's contracting business - i was 16. I got home from work and my mother told me my buddy showed up and asked to "borrow" my trail bike. She asked him if I gave him permission - he said he didn't think I'd mind... Long story short... Mom asked me if he bumped his head recently? :icon_laughing:

I've been asked to trade bikes for a short test ride where we both ride each others bike together... the last time I did that was 18 years ago when you couldn't find road kings yet. Now the only people to ride my bike are a very short list of family and friends - each with their own bike and many years of experience and friendship. As for a trip out of town let alone up to Sturgis... They Bump their heads lately? :icon_winking: :icon_clap: :icon_laughing:

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.
PICK ANY 2....
