Im new to the world of motorcycles and what not, I was wondering if anyone had a list or suggestions as to what I would need to fully clean and detail my new 2014 Softail Deluxe. I know I can go to the dealer to get the kit but Id rather get information and advice from someone online here with knowledge to guide me to the right information before I go back in there. Thanks guys ( and gals ) :D

I use S100:

Let bike cool down. Spritz the S100 all over and rinse immediately then towel or blow dry off. I use many types of wax from S100 brand wax to Turtle wax.

I've heard good things about the s100

I use liquid car wash and a leaf blower then maquires liquid wax. I also use turtle wax but it seems harder to remove - also seems like a thicker finish - you get what you elbow grease for - or something like that :icon_laughing:

always wanted to get some maquires, see it advertised on all the cr build shows. Must mean its real good stuff. I use to use dish soap but S100 is much easier. No sponge or srcubbing necessary

The original bike spirits spray cleaner and polish. It's the sniz.

Where do you get yours?

I've found with cleaners & stuff - money saves time, just how much money one is willing to part with / time saved is the question.

I rarely if ever wash my bike with water. Bike Sprits and a microfiber towel. I just checked J&P Cycles and they have a good price on a can of it ($6.29 for gold members). You can get a case of 12 cans on Ebay for $74.76 + free shipping. Last time I got some I got a case.

For me it is easier, just about everytime I spend a lot of time washing and detailing the bike it will rain. Polishing it with bike spirits only takes a few minutes. How I found out about it... Years ago.... A buddy of mine used to work for HD and he told me that they used "Honda Spray and Polish" to keep the showroom bikes looking good. The guys swore by it. Honda Spray and Polish later became Original Bike Spirits.

It makes it easier to clean bugs off your windsheild TOO :icon_thumbsup:

Thanks Kickstand - :icon_hat:

I've been spending way too much time cleaning my bike, hahaha - I haven't washed it in a month and it looks like it.

Going to detail it out first chance this week - it's on my radar now.

On my last ride - I got stuck behind an SUV and as soon as I got in her draft she dowsed me with windshield spray. Helmet and bike have a million spots on them. I think it might be too much for anything but the hose. I keep it clean after the detail with a spray and wipe until it starts to get gritty and then I get around to doing a detail on it again. Keeping it clean after the detailing saves time cause it's always clean and the spray and wipe is like you said - just few minutes here and there when it gets some dust on it. I used to use some magical sh!t on the spokes but cant find it any more - I think they outlawed it cause it was so caustic. Worked like crazy though.
