Harley -Davidson, which will launch 12 models in the Indian market from April, tied up with ICICI Bank for consumer financing of its products that are priced between Rs6.95 lakh and Rs34.95 lakh
New Delhi: Iconic US motorcycle maker Harley -Davidson, which will launch 12 models in the Indian market from April, tied up with ICICI Bank for consumer financing of its products that are priced between Rs6.95 lakh and Rs34.95 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).
“The financing options will be for up to 85% of the loan value for five years and attract 11% rate of interest,” Harley-Davidson India MD Anoop Prakash said at the 10th Auto Expo being held here. “These options are comparable to those of premier car manufacturers ...,” he added.
Prakash said the company has also established a dealer financing relationship with the bank.
The bookings for motorcycles will open from April at dealerships that are to be announced in five cities — New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. The deliveries will commence from June.
The maker of cruising and touring motorcycles sells products in over 70 countries and had announced plans for entering India last year. Earlier this week, at the Expo, it unveiled 12 models it plans to launch in the country.

Harley-Davidson India has said that it will bring 12 motorcycles from its 2010 model portfolio to India. The company made this announcement at the ongoing Auto Expo in New Delhi.
Anoop Prakash, managing director of Harley-Davidson India, said: “For over a century, Harley-Davidson has inspired motorcyclists across the world to celebrate their passion for riding. Our experience in leading the leisure motorcycle market worldwide makes us naturally suited to help lead and define leisure riding in India. We entered India with a promise to bring riders the pure Harley-Davidson experience with bikes from every family. Over the past year we have listened to riders across India at our many events, and we have produced a line-up to stir their soul.”
The 2010 Harley-Davidson models introduced across Harley-Davidson's five motorcycle families in India include Sportster: XL 883L SPORTSTER, XL 1200N NIGHTSTER, XL 883R ROADSTER, XR 1200X; Dyna: FXDB STREET BOB, FXDC SUPER GLIDE; VRSC: VRSCDX NIGHT ROD; Softail: FLSTF FAT BOY, FLSTC HERITAGE SOFTAIL CLASSIC, and Touring: FLHR ROAD KING, FLHX STREET GLIDE, FLHTCUSE ULTRA CLASSIC ELECTRA GLIDE.
The motorcycles are being imported into India as completely built units and will be priced between INR6,95,000 and INR34,95,000. Bookings will be open from April 2010 at dealerships to be announced in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. Delivery of motorcycles will commence from June 2010.
