Finally got on the bike today. After 6 months its always a little weird for me. Went to pick up some syn 3 and while there was looking at a Fat Boy Low. I'm only 5'7 and that Ultra is slowly becoming a beast. Sat on it and liked how low slung the saddle is and how much more my knees are bent. Also noticed that the 2014 Ultra's and Ultra Limited's all have the massive tangled wiring harness sitting exposed on the back fender in a large space between the back of the seat and the tour pac but now some are coming with a little flap covering over it. They need to do that to all of them. Its still a bad placement.

I've been looking at some Fat Boy's. Looking a road kings also. Got to get something more comfortable for my wife.

I wonder if the RK would be considered one of the more popular bikes of Harley. Road Glides,Ultras and Street glides must be up there too.

While I was at the dealer Saturday I checked out what you were taking about on the ultra's wiring harness. The bike I was sitting on had the flap and I pulled it up to see the wires. The flap finishes it off. The Ultra is too small for me. The way the seat is setup, my knees almost hit the bars and I look like a monkey f-n a foot ball. I wouldn't be able to sit on that thing for more than a few minutes before I had a back ache and my knees throbbing. Every bike now comes with those sculpted seats that limit how far you can slide back on the seat. I have very long legs and I almost sit on the passenger pad when I ride my RK. The older bikes had that flatter style - lucky for me cause that bike is comfortable for me.

Good God man, how tall are you? They setup the riding position for the common height... I think. However they sell all kinds of aftermarket stuff to make it fit to you. They are all cheap too



BI, a friend of mine has the FB Low. He is like 6'2 and loves the bike. For my money the Heritage is a better bike. It comes with a windshield, bags, and the stock seat is not too bad. (at least in 2003). The main downer on it is the spoke wheels. I know some folks have issues with them because they cannot plugg the tire on the road. I have had good luck with the spokes, but i would prefer the tubeless tires.

Spoked wheels are now tubeless been for a couple of years.

The 2014 came with a sturdier and stiffer front end/steering head and thats what breifly tempted me about a 2014 (until I saw that wire harness boa constrictor on the back fender)

Yeah the heritage would still keep you in the touring game to a point.And the seat height is 2 inchs lower than the Ultra. How is the ride on the softails I wonder?

I think spoke wheels are a plus personally. I always preferred those if given a choice...nostalgia I guess.

BI been in the pool already, bike all set up for a west coast run in July only thing to do is service before I leave and new tires, yay won't be till 1 week before, need all the rubber I can get
