Today broke cold and bleak but it was dry for a change so let's ride, I got the bandit 12 out and headed for the lanes and motorway.no traffic about and no/cops so open the throttle and go for it.had a great 80\90mph ride and covered 80 miles or so.got home and had a coffee and got the Harley out.rode exactly the same route but never went above 60mph, just relaxed and enjoyed the scenery and ride and got home cold but buzzing.what is it about a Harley that makes a ride so much more than just a ride? I think its a thing called soul. Rod

Spot on Rod!! :icon_hat:

Back in the early 90's before I bought my Road King, I rode pretty much any bike I could get my azz on. I liked them all - each with it's positive attributes.
Then in early 94 I went on vacation to Maui, Hawaii. I rented a Harley for a day - cost me quite a bit $240. I rode the wheels off that thing putting over 150 miles on it... Maui is only 35 miles from tip to tip. I rode that bike up to the top of the volcano Haleakala, 10,000 feet above sea level. I didn't want to return it - but I couldn't afford a second day...
When I got back home I went to the Harley Dealership - saw the brand new model - The Road King. I wanted it and I got it.

What was the difference of all the other bikes I rode - I liked them...
When I rode that Harley - I LOVED IT!!

When ever I hear someone bashing HD's bikes I ask them - "When and what did you ride to base your opinion?"

Almost always - they never rode one, just going by what they hear. OR- they sat on one once and didn't like the way it felt... I ask "Which model?" Oh, one that some guy built... some custom chopper. OR- some totally modified one.

My brother tells me, my bike is the easiest bike he's ever ridden. He's been riding longer than me, owns 3 different brand bikes now. His bike of choice - HD.

Yeah there are plenty of more powerful bikes, but nothing rides like a Harley.

Thanks Rod!! - Now I need to go out and ride :icon_razz:

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.
PICK ANY 2....

Even a stock Harley has a rumble that says just sit back and enjoy. No need to rush. :icon_thumbsup:

If I had a dollar for every import rider who said harley riders were snobs and think they are better, and then you have to hear the ole Harleys leak oil and are slow and don't handle and how the import bike are more bike for the money, faster and handle better all the same ole stuff.

A dollar for every one of them that ended up getting a Harley and lovin" it!!

To me it doesn't matter what someone rides,I ride with guys that ride all types of bikes and if someone starts putting down another mans bike...thats about the time I quit riding with them!
