Any of you travelers in California ever go by Fountain Springs and drop in and visit? I used to go down that way all the time to help my father-in-law work cattle on the Rivermeer Ranch. Big spread. But on Friday night we would go to Fountain Springs and party. It used to be and had been that way for some time, just a bar. But the mayor, bar owner, law enforcement and postal clerk was all the same person. A great old lady that was tough as they come. I was just wondering since I've been gone from that area for almost 20 years if any of you know if she has past on and what came of the place. It was a great western dance place on weekends. Don't know how many times, but I'm surprised I made it home because me and my father-in-law liked to close the place. Just wondering on another winter day.

Guess I should add that it just down the road from California Hot Springs so surely some of you have gone through there. :icon_whee:

I just looked it up - Fountain Springs California, is about 200 miles north of me. I don't get up that way - yet... I might just now that you brought my attention to it. Summer is coming and I'm always looking for a new adventure.

That's a pretty fair distance just to get a beer. :icon_cheesygrin:

I see someone has made a tourist type post about it. I don't think the old lady had internet smarts to do it so it must have been one of the regulars.

Seems that a passer through probably took the pics. There are a couple bikes parked outside - always a good sign.
Lots of ghost towns and forgotten places out here -nice to visit - off the beaten track.

I'm sure this place will be a ghost town if the old lady has passed. It's been just a town consisting of a bar as long as I've known of it. Not too many would want to live like that.
