I know there is no "locked in good answer" on this but when I bought my 2012 FLHTCi new I didn't take out the extended warranty....just walked away with the originaly 2 yr. deal. Recently I was curious what it would cost to add another 2 yrs. on so I called the dealer inquiring. I could add an additional two years for $1250. I do take very good care of my bike changing the oil even before it's due, take it to the dealer for things I don't wanna do maintenancewise myself, etc. I'm up-to-date on all maintenance. Do y'all normally feel the extended is a worthy purchase? BTW...I put on an average of 8-10,000 miles a year. Thanks, Arnie

I never had a problem with my bike once I started doing all the maintenance myself. At 40K my tappet roller bearing let go and I needed a gearcase side rebuild - I did myself. I have an old bike -1994, owned it since new.
As for life in general - every time I bought the extended warranty I never used it. The manufacturers know their products and make sure the warranties wear out before they need to be serviced - or so it seems.

They replaced the swing arm, cam tensioner, that's all I can think of but there was more, the tensioners were at 75,000 or so

BTW...I put on an average of 8-10,000 miles a year. With my Heritage I purchased it used with around 25k miles on it. I got a three year extended "service plan". They put new fork seals in, changed a rockerbox gasket... not sure if there was anything else. I did the tensioners at 65k. I think the extended warrenty gives you piece of mind. I never had them not honor a warrenty request. I got the extended warrenty on my wideglide. I didn't purchase it new and it didn't come with any warrenty, so in that case I think it's always better to get the warrenty. You just never know what can break. The extended warrenty, in my opinion, is a good idea. harley wrote: They replaced the swing arm, cam tensioner, that's all I can think of but there was more, the tensioners were at 75,000 or so I'm surprized they did a cam tensioner under warrenty, that should be a wear item.

I've always bought a extra year and only time I used it was when a front wheel bearing went bad.
No one I know has had to use it,knock on wood.
I have heard of people who have used it and it was fairly soon after they bought the bike.

I appreciate the comebacks.....although I still hadn't decided what I'm going to do.

Just as a followup: I decided not to put out the $1500 for another 3 years. I'm playing it brave here. Wish me luck.
