Everything is expensive, not just HD. OEM is, for the most part, superior to after market in everyway with few exceptions. I think HD is expensive because its worth it. Couple manufacturers like S&S,Andrews,Edlebrock,P&M brakes and a few others are worthy and they are not inexpensive either.

To expect to be perfect is unreasonable, to strive for perfection is reasonable.

I shop around for the best price, but I don't mind paying a little more for a better quality product.
Made in America goes to the top of the list and made in china gets scratched of the list.

The best way to straighten out a crooked dealer is to right an online review.
When they start losing money they will start bending over backwards to get it back

Bill, if you have to extend the wires and brake line, then $600 may be a good price. The overall job is no big deal, but the job takes time if it is done right and that cost money. Risers alone can cost from $50 to $200+ depending on what you are going with. If you have to extend wires and cables as well... $600 ain't bad in my opinion. You don't want to stretch wires or cables and you want the job done right.

I know folks that have spent close to $2k having apes installed.

I've never had a real problem with paying the dealer ship price on some things. They've always treated me good. Once, I had lost the front wheel axial bolt. They ordered a new one. Since the bike was already in the shop I had new Tires put on and a full tune up. When they had the tires off they found that the front bearings were going because I had road the bike a few days unaware that the bolt was missing, before I replace it with a bolt I purchased from Ace Hardware. They replaced them (the bearings) for the cost of the bearings. Of course I was already paying a allot for the other services. Also when I always get my bike back from the the dealership after services, they always detail my bike for me. It comes back to me show room quality, that new bike smell. Hell I've always considered that the kiss they're giving me. LOL :icon_mrgreen:
