I have thought about doing it. Maybe it's an age thing. Sometimes I'd just like to verify what gear I think I'm in. But I'm not sure just what all is involved to do it. And can't justify it for just verifying. But I'd still like one.

I know what you're saying but you'll be fine. Concentrate a little harder. Your experience will save the day for you. If you buy it you still have to remember to look at it and if you can remember that, you will sense what gear your in just fine.
