I had hoped I was well past making any stupid, rookie mistakes, but no.....I am more than capable of forgetting to think with my limited brain cells. After returning home from our wet trip to the Grand Canyon, I undressed my Street Glide (affectionately known as Mertle) for a good cleaning. Upon putting the saddlebags back on, one side was a little stubborn, but the pins went in and locked down. On Friday evening, my wife and I took off on a dinner ride and after making a turn and accelerating, my right saddle bag fell off and went sliding down the asphalt to wind up in the ditch. If only I would have checked to make sure the saddle bags were secure. A costly lesson for me, but hopefully someone can benefit from my stupid mistake.
