No oil cooler. My bike only holds 2.4 quarts of oil completely dry. I use synthetic oil have been using Amsoil 10w40 but just ordered a case of Mobil 1 10w40 to try. The oil filter i use is a re-usable type it has fins that act as an oil cooler. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w22wzKJhRU&list=WL3A7BE3ECF8CF380A

Just curious because the 2012 Ultra I currently own, came with a oil cooler which I think is an excellent and welcomed from the factory addition. Was thinking as long as one had either a radiator or a cooler it was helping the heat issue.

Before i put the radiator bypass on. When the bike got hot i could hear the coolant bubbling in the overflow tank quite often.

Was that way back in 2010. Surprisingly quick ride from Barstow to San Diego. We had spent the nite in Barstow and had gotten off the road early because it was so oppressively hot, like 106-1009 in September, dayum it was hot. So we called it a day at about 1pm. Got up and was on the road by 4am to avoid the heat. Was nervous about deer at that hour.

How many riders were there? Imagine breaking down out there. That was what was on my mind until we got back into civilization.

Out here on the waste coast - down south near the border it gets hot in August and Sept. So that's not a surprise that you ran into that kind of heat. The best times to visit here is the early summer - the days are long and the temps are perfect. Once the place heats up by mid summer to early autumn its an oven. The desert where Weljo was - is 20 degrees hotter on any given day. Then in the winter - it snows!!

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.
PICK ANY 2....
