Went out to Las Vegas monday to meet up with my best friend that was there for business. Took one day from the casino and went out about an hour away for a ride.

Was that way back in 2010. Surprisingly quick ride from Barstow to San Diego. We had spent the nite in Barstow and had gotten off the road early because it was so oppressively hot, like 106-1009 in September, dayum it was hot. So we called it a day at about 1pm. Got up and was on the road by 4am to avoid the heat. Was nervous about deer at that hour.
How many riders were there? Imagine breaking down out there. That was what was on my mind until we got back into civilization.

If the breakdown is nothing major i can usually handle it. I carry a tire plugger kit, compressor, jumper cables, extra clutch cable and a tool kit. If its something i can't handle i have roadside assistance, towing on the bike. It was 99 degrees the days i was there.Drank plenty of water and with the mesh jacket as long as your moving your getting cool air.

Murphies law rules supreme...you have it you never need it...you don't have it...... On the way to and thru LV you're skirting the Mojave desert. Did the radiator/water cooled motorcycle keep the engine temps down pretty good or did that even become a concern?

It is water cooled but when i came out from texas to california in 2010 i went in july and the heat in arizona was unreal. I maintained between 75mph to 95 the whole time on the freeway with the bike loaded down and hauling my 285lbs before gear. Before that trip i installed a Therm-O-Bob on the bike its a radiator bypass that keeps the bike at a constant temp and has quick warm ups too https://shop.watt-man.com/Thermo-Bobs_c4.htm
