Thursday I left the house at 7:45A.M. and didn't get home till 8:30P.M. I rode about 452 miles. I rode to bellows falls,VT to meet my buddy Matt then we headed out to Greenfield,Mass to meet another rider up from Norwich,CT and then onto the Mohawk trail and the The Golden Eagle restaurant.

We got to the Freindlies in Greenfield, Mass rt 2 West about 30 minutes earlier then Bob so we had a lite breakfast while waiting. We'd no sooner finished then Bob pulled in. We chit chatted a few minutes and then hit the Mohawk trail. We get to the Golden Eagle restaurant for 11am and it opens at noon..WTF. FYI...the Mohawk trail is an awsome ride with harsh twisties and panoramic epic views, just beautiful. The area took a hit last year with Irene, was actually shut down for most of the summer and the repairs are very apparent as you ride thru the trail.

Since the restaurant was closed and it was only 11A.M. we headed back down to the interstate, stopping in Shelburne Falls at the Trail DOC diner. After a quick burger and fries me and Matt figured lets make a day of it and hit the road riding back to Connecticut with Bob or more precisley the Bach Door bar in Chaplin,CT. The ride took us thru the outskirts of Hartford,CT then thru Storrs,CT and the UCONN campus and finally into Chaplin and the Bach Door. https://www.motorcyclemonster.com/events ... in-CT.html

We chilled out for a couple beers worth before heading out. Jumped on the 395 north into Worcester,Mass then onto 495 north, RT3, I-93 north,I-89 north and home.

Took a few photos but won't have them for a few days.

Hello KS! Hows by you and what have you been up to?

It was a nice ride. It was nice to hang my head and heavy thoughts on a coat rack for the day and give my head a break. I don't do that enough. Between pressures of the job and the pressures of the family it gets all consuming sometimes.

How has your summer been progressing? Getting in some riding?

Hey BI - I have been out that way, years ago - as I remember it - beautiful countryside. Glad to hear you finally got a nice ride in.
I used to travel to visit my buddy in Hudson I'd take rt 9 - I think. Use to love that ride.

Yeah thats rt 9 and is in NY and parallels the Hudson River running north and south.

There is also north and south RT 7 that seems to run from Norwalk,CT and I-95 all the way up to Burlington,VT and all nice scenery.

I remember riding all up through there - the roads were fun and the scenery nice and green. I had a blast back there - my bike was brand new and I had close friends all with motorcycles - we went everywhere. Enjoy those roads - my memories are old so I remember them with very little traffic on them - but I'm sure as like everywhere else - compared to today - those are just warm old memories. I really liked the October rides - with a fresh crisp taste to the air. We used to go and hit the apple orchards out in Eastern NY right by the Mass state line. Hot - home made doughnuts and fresh apple cider. Tip - drink the cider at home. But the doughnuts - fresh cinnamon and sugar - just like my mother used to make when we were kids... Went out there the last time I was in town and they developed the old apple orchards into condos... So with all those new condos comes traffic. Enjoy those roads... yeah right.

Not sure about rt 9 but rt 7 is seasonal. Summertime traffic jam(tourist time) as is leaf peaping season(fall). Catch that road early spring before school lets out or right after school lets back in(Sept/Oct) its better.

Progress RK. Thats progress....

Sorry for the slow response... it's been a good summer. I haven't taken any trips this summer, just a few day rides. The whole "making a living" thing got in the way. We are preparing for our eventual move east. :icon_thumbsup: It could be as soon as next summer.

That move is major and not sure I wish I could do similar. Been at this grind for over 20 years now and its not really motorcycle freindly up here weather wise. Short riding season.

The change of scenery will be nice and a new chapter in our lives will be cool, but moving sucks arse. I'm guessing Asheville's riding season is more than NH's eh? I am used to the heat here in Texas, so the 50's - 60's weather is not comfortable without a jacket.
