Well I guess new parts (brand new radio) usually fix the problem... hope you have plenty of enjoyment out of it...
Did the old radio just crap out or was there a problem with the bike that caused it to fail... if so your new one might be short lived.

The radio on my triglide would work and not work so they put a rebuilt radio in. The radio was new and I get a rebuilt, that is what Harley does.

If anyone is interested Iron Cross Audio will rebuild your Harmon Cardon radio for a flat rate $250, then they have add on's also. One year warranty, plus they have add on's also. I believe turn around time is two days not including shipping time.
