Always go behind the car - I had a very similar situation happen to me - I went behind the car and missed him...
Car turned left in front of me - I was traveling at 50 had no time to stop - grabbed all the brakes I could and locked the back wheel into a side slide - bike went sideways - I let off the back brake easily and let the wheel catch - bike straightened out - counter steered into the opposite direction and just missed the trunk by inches... an inch or a mile is the same at that point.
Glad to see he didn't get hurt!!

was on a charity ride a bunch of years ago and a car cut through the ride, one rider went behind the car, missed the car hit the bicycle rack with is neck, dead at the scene. I also go in the direction the vehicle came from works most of the time, with the deer it did not.

An unfortunate series of events, really a bad angle in the road. She was heading out the same time he came around the corner. Luckily the cycle rider wasn't going warp speed else it'd been worse and why we have insurance. You can fix/replace the bike.

From the angle the video was taken... IF he had gone behind the car - he would have had a better chance of not hitting it at all... just saying from where I'm sitting that is the way it looks. AND if we are to gain/learn anything from this poor guys accident it would be to go where it comes from - not where its going...

Crap like this amazes me. The guy driving the car had a passenger. When i'm in that situation that i can't see i'll have my passenger get out to make sure it clear before i pull out or if i'm the passenger i hop out to do it. Plenty of times i've go somewhere and a car parked next to a truck can't see to back out into traffic. I'll walk out into the road and stop traffic if necessary and motion the car back. Or if no traffic let them know its all clear. Seems common sense isn't so common anymore

It my younger foolish testosterone fueled days I would chase the vehicle/driver all the way to their house or where ever they pulled into. I've follow ass bag drivers to pizza hut, to their homes, to bars and restaurants. I don't know what I was thinking. I never laid a finger on anybody but got real pissed off and in their face real time. I don't do that now.
