Thanks for the info BI and RK. I'll give it a try when I get a chance. Just headed back to work after 2 weeks vacation, night shift no less.

Like I mentioned I have a 2012 too. Looking forward to seeing your '12. Can't say enough good about mine. Have you added any electronics(GPS/XM radio) or performance enhancing(exhaust,stage 1-2-3)? I've done nothing but cosmetics.

I have done a few cosmetics but other than mounting my portable XM that's about it. Always looking at something else to put on it though. Thinking new exhaust and air cleaner in the near future. I did get 1 pic to post. Going to work on that. Not much of a computer person.

Nice looking bike, I like that color..the name is on the tip of my tongue...its not red. They didn't give many color choices for that model say compared to the Ultra. Wonder why that was?

You will really come to appreciate a luggage rack on the tour pac. It allows for another bag to be strapped down. I haul this one on mine:

I enjoy an XM radio as it hold its channel all the way across the country. Haven't put one on mine yet. Gonna get a fairing bra as well. Was debating a GPS but probably won't.

Before you started screwing with the exhaust, downloads and performance remember to consider it may lower your MPG not to mention your throwing away a perectly good and expensive exhaust.

For the best MPG and reliability factory stock is the way to go. And both are important for long distance touring like it sounds like you do.

Again we're just talking and exchanging thoughts and idea's. You won't be the first to modify and you won't be the last. Just reflecting on my own experience and sharing. I'm sure what ever you decide will be most excellent and you'll be more then happy.

The color is Ember Red Sun Glo. The pic I posted was the day I bought the bike. The first thing I bought was HD Air Wing rack and light kit. I also have a Kuryakyn Gran tour bag. It's more for a rack and sissy bar like my nomad had but still works. Holds a lot. I agree with what you said about keeping the exhaust stock, the bike runs like scalded dog a gets good mpg, but I wouldn't mind a little more sound if I find the right combo. I had V&H exhaust and a power commander on my Nomad and it ran good but the mpg went down. Couldn't get it dialed in right.

Fuel Management....What riders should consider is that HD MOCO deeply embeds its codes. Most aftermarket fuel management systems work to "fool" the existing codes. Most of the time that works out, sometimes it leaves you stranded.

Our 2012's are completely awsome as is stock in my opinion, 103" motor is fast enough. 6 gallon gas tank and 6 gears....wow. I'm only hitting 2500 RPM's at 70mph. Thats not mentioning the new frame,180 back tire and factory oil cooler..HD hit the bullseye with this. I don't quite understand the 17" front tire (the 16" front tire was almost traditional since its model inception 50+ years ago).

I've had close to a dozen HD's over the years and I like this one the best. Can't imagine what they could do better short of adding fold up tucked away airplane wings,lol. I thought they hit the top of the mark with the 5 speed carbed EVO.

Short of God and family its the best being the owner of a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

As an owner of the 5 speed Evo for the last 19 years I'm pretty happy - the 6 speed is the only thing I would see as an improvement over what I have now... but still very happy with my bike as is. I can see the improvements that were made as improvement though. I think a bigger engine gives more torque and the extra gas makes things easier on longer rides. All in all - when and if I ever decide to buy a new bike I'd go for a new HD. The balance and how they ride is very hard for the competition to match let alone beat. I still enjoy the sound of the road over canned music - and the RoadKing is all I need.
