Hey Joe,
glad to see you're getting out there and looking - just don't be in a hurry - anything you buy is something you'll be with for a while - and - it's always easier to BUY something than SELL it. I've had my bike since '94 and I wouldn't trade it for anything - but it's the bike I wanted since I was a kid...
Best of luck!!

11,500...it all about the compromise but also not crossing the line and being a PITA customer either. It goes both ways. They are working with you, thats more then most. I'm actually surprised to hear they came back with a very reasonable counter. Sound like decent folks.

If you do decide to pull the trigger have them do a compression test in front of you to check the compression diference between the front and rear cyclinder. Ca't hurt, I doubt anything is wrong but you never know.

What numbers should I be looking for, other than close to the same, LOL....

Quote:
Static Cranking Pressure Performance Implications
Less than 115 PSI Poor low speed performance, poor throttle response, hard starting. Compression Ratio and Cam not matched or worn rings, valves.
120 PSI to 145 PSI Expected range for most stock or modified street motors. This is a good range for a street motor.
145 PSI to 165 PSI Modified street motors. Static pressures in this range should produce good results. This is a good range for a street motor.
165 PSI to 180 PSI Marginal for street motors. Possible hard starting, detonation and overheating.
Over 180 PSI These are all out race engines. A street motor in this range will be trouble. Stick to the trac

If you have done a compression test and the results are poor put a few drops of oil in the plug holes and re test if the compression is higher then cylinder and ring wear is part of the problem if it does not change then the valves are the area that need attention
when doing a compression test always have the throttle wide open to get a good reading
if you do need a re bore then new pistons and rings will be required to match the new bore size

We put another 100 on it today through the state forest near us, was a great ride!!! only question I got at the moment... I keep hearing a very high pitched "tinging" from front end/ maybe top motor area ?, like a loose bolt or something, any ideas???? I cant find anything loose, it may be normal engine noise that I am just not used to???, remember the last 10 years I was riding a 2-stroke for enduro racing, so I tend to be VERY anal about "weird" noises, one guy I ran onto mentioned premium gas, filled it with premium and I still hear it, only under load, idle I dont hear it...is this a normal "noise" ????...

SUPER THANKS AGAIN for all the info guys n gals.....

Ohio Joe- found it, now riding it :icon_razz:
