I used to make a nice living with my contracting business. I got paid for a two month project about 5% of the sale price. Usually a $300k flip would put about 15k in my pocket for 9 weeks of work. I don't do those projects anymore because the ACA. After the .gov gets it's piece I'm down to 1.5% or $4.5k for 9 weeks of work, because of the 3.5% real estate transaction fee law. I retired.
I stopped fighting the system and just quit, I make the same as if I worked 9 long hard weeks and paid the tax. I filed for assistance. I've been working injured for the last 3 decades for myself. Since I have a long and detailed case of disabilities that can keep me from working for someone else, I easily met the requirements for assistance.
Now I"m fully covered - I have mandatory coverage (provided by all those 1%er rich folks). Before, when I was responsible for myself I used to watch what I ate and got plenty of rest. But now, I eat eggs and bacon, whole milk, smoke 2 packs a day, eat steak, drink hard liquor, and stay up all night. I get $200 a month for groceries.
Yeah I love the ACA wish it happened sooner!!
