Spinner went into winter storage sooner than I anticipated, and a unique thing happened with Betty. I pulled into the garage after a great ride, and got depressed.
Oh, she was running fine and I had a great time. Great weather and up onto the slab in a jean jacket. We will get two, or possibly three more days like this before the axe falls. My issue is the concept of "free time."
I don't target shoot much any more, I don't hunt, and I cannot stand snowmobiles. And on the days where we have had intense rains I find myself in the bland rotation of "newspaper, gym, coffee shop." I do have a long-ignored book on Japanese history, and I'm back into that.
But I have really enjoyed the action over the past two years of riding all of the time. Whether it's on long rdes to nowhere on Betty, or just hopping around locally on Spinner, either causing trouble or doing every errand I can think of. This scedule has really charged up my personal batteries.
But riding Betty let's me think, and it's a wonderful quiet time. Like the old Christopher Cross lyric, "If one thing in my life is missing, it's the time that I spend alone." No gym and the gossip, I cannot hear the cell phone whether it's on or off, no clients to nag me--it's like Betty can outrun anything, even my mind chatter.
But as I pulled back into the homestead I realize one thing. Wisconsin winters can be bleak, and we're about due for a doozy. Trapped at home, I'm left with the computer. Yikes. I've developed a real abject hate with anything 'cyber,' and I used to say "love/hate." Now it's just contempt.
Perhaps this is just "cyber shrapnel." I quit going to another website last night, simply because dealing with the public was chafing my chaps. And that site dealt with knives...

Tourist, you and I have more than a few things in common. Like you, I searched and in vain for 3 years for the perfect or at least best fit motorcycle forum web site. Or could not find myself able to comply to the painfull political correct expectatiions of said motorcycle forum dujour. Unfortunately whether HD Forum, HD Motorcycle forum,HD Talking,HERD, Justharley.com, Hawgnet, motorcycle forum,TMC,Westcoast bikers, they are all unequivocally the same. Full of naive, gullible newbie rider/posters who don't know no better and run by ill prepared ownr admins who lacked the ability to allow posters the freedom and flexibility to exchange, at times, volatile information w/out taking the easy way out with a ban, lol. To me a ban on todays WWW is a badge of honor. To me it means someone was trying to control your thoughts and opinions and you told them to take a flying leap. Most forums are admin owned and mods to enforce the owner admins agenda and for profit. Defining their agenda means alot but mostly means begging to differ will not be a posters perogitive. While some, like the HERD, promote this real deal we are there for you brotherhoood ....its in reality a facade of lies,BS and behind the scenes skullduggery manipulation rather that a membership fueled forum as advertised. Most are a few chosen, mother henning the rest. And not to mention some people should be told to STFU! Luckily if you don't like the lay of the land simply move on but it will all be the same just the same on any forum. I suggest finding another hobby for the winter, thats what I'm doing. How about painting and building revelle models. 1968 GTO,Road Runners, Malibu's,Chevy SS's,1966 Mustangs... revelle is still the world leader in slections and quality of model etc... and Testors is some of the best model paint/glue on the hobbiest market: https://www.revell.com/model-kits/cars/index.htmlAlso thanks and appreciation to the powers that be on this forum for letting me and Tourist blow our carbs out,its appreciated.

Good idea. I had been thinking about a opening a Christian proctology clinic and sandwich shop.
I'm going to call it, "Eat, Pray, Glove."
Like I said, I'm a tad bored. Oh, I have some sharpening to do, but one of the bigger piles of knives belongs to a guy who only shows up when the mood strikes him. Like when I'm out riding or I have closed the house down for the night and I'm catching the late news.
I do not like muggy weather, and I hate to become the stereotyped figure of a retired guy who moves to Florida. However, we have friends there, and my brother teaches at a university somewhere in the area. The idea of riding all year is a great idea, but my mechanic doesn't want to move.
I thought of getting a mistress, but all my money is tied up in custom bikes, and who can stand the thought of a second woman yapping...

Speaking of medical procedures...I went for an exam the other day and everything was going well until he stuck a finger in my arse....should I get another dentist?
My wife has been missing for a week, the police said to expect the worse so I went to the Goodwill store and got her cloths back.
My wife said she believed in reincarnation. I told her it means she would have to come bacik as something else. She said she wanted to come back as a cow. I told her she wasn't listening when I explained reincarnation.
On a serious note I imagine Florida in the winter is probably a motorcycle riders dream come true. I don't think so much oin the summer. Its gotta be oppresive heat in June-July and August. I don't know?

My wife said she wanted to start talking during sex. Last night she called me from Waunakee...
Muggy in Florida. Yup, that's why I'm against the idea. But riding all year, there's an idea I could live with.
