Anyone go to other forums at all for Harley Riders? Just curious if there is one that is more popular then others? I like this one because it is very easy to find things.

This is my home forum. I have been the gamut of supposed V-twin boards and found far too many posers and petty infighting. Boards with a high metric presence are the worst.

As I have told others I often ask trick questions, like should I replace the 'mousetrap' on my new Sportster with one made of copper, or one made of resin.

Guys here immediately know the answer. I had one guy at another forum try to answer it...

I prefer the aluminum one myself, but I'm trying to loose weight... :icon_neutral:

Well, of course, what other answer is there?

If you really want to bust a poser's chops remind him that there is such a thing as a "mousetrap eliminator."

They are neoprene over titanium, aren't they? :icon_laughing:

(BTW, for you newbs we are referring to a "clutch booster.")

Other forums why would you go to any other forum? You got everything that you could want here! :icon_thumbsup:

While I agree, don't you think that overall remark is a pretty sad comment?

I have a love/hate relationship with computers and especially forums. I need such things for work, but I also do research and like a bit of down-time enjoyment. There are many times when I think I'd be better off finding some form of hobby--like building bird houses--that doesn't require anything "cyber."

I increasing find our general society lazy, willful, erroneously entitled, and poorly educated. The "forum people" are classic examples of that concept. Hiding in their mom's basements they muck up just about every forum I know. Ya' know, I wouldn't even care about the whining and flaming if half of their supposed facts had some connection to reality. In the end I think the only real world experience they have is cleaning their mom's lint trap--it's in their computer room.

There are few bikers in biker forums. And as I often say just owning a bike is a poor barometer. Even a widow owns a Harley. For example, we have a new member here, an admitted newb, who seems to just be starting in our sport. And frankly I would rather talk all day long to this newb rather than suffer through the drek of listening to a clown wearing his grandfather's road clothes and calling everyone "bro."

You respect his honesty. The kid also shows respect by being honest. Easy - too bad the "others" have to feel that the lie is more important than just being able to talk bikes. I could care less if someone came on here and said "hey I've never owned a Harley, don't know doodily about them but would love to join in a conversation about them. Ask questions, bring us old leathers back to the day we where new. But, I agree, the BS artists that just make stuff up, flame real people, and show no respect. Men, real men would never act that way in person without understanding exactly why they woke up in the hospital. This forum seems to be the closest to real life in cyberspace. We ride - we love the bikes - we talk the talk - I still think Tourist knows way too much about those "laundry rooms" then he admits to. :icon_winking:

LOL. My mom had a laundry room, and my brother hates motorcycles. I simply connected the dots...

I feel the same way as you do about honest newbs, and I do like to help out. For example, I used a slang term the other day, "skid bar." He was right to call me on it. There are no stupid questions. There might be a dozen other members here who needed the parts and service, and now that discussion, the part number and the solution are printed in HRF.

Heck, I wish I had all of the money I showered on Betty, but then, Betty might be someone else's bike.

Good bikes are like soulless redheads and dragons. Expensive to keep and a good bet to kill you. But without those dangerous things we'd be stuck with all that gold bullion and TV reruns.

Eh, men should have a few scars...
