Years ago I cut the cord and got rid of cable tv. I started to read more and use the computer instead of watching tv.
Don't get me wrong, I love the History Channel along with some Discovery but the rest became useless, nonsense and the content coming into my home was getting worse.
I started to read about topics that could make my life better and join forums like this one.
I read on one site back in 2008 about the General Motors Diet.
Simply put: eat your meat and nothing else and you will lose weight.
Needless to say, I didn't take that advice. Every one knows you'd die if you did that.
Lets fast forward 10 years 2018. I read from a source I believe in. Paleo Man diet. I read the science behind it, I understood the science behind it. It had never been explained to me that way before and yeah the light went on.
SO - August 2018 - I start a new chapter in my life -
I go cave man - my weight was spiraling up and up year after year.
If you keep doing the same thing over and over and keep getting the same results over and over -
YOU GOT TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT

A little over a year later. I'm still alive. I lost weight. Still have all my hair, teeth, etc....
No I didn't die. In fact I'm the same size/weight I was my 2nd year of college.

I"m going to write a diet book :icon_eek:

I think I'll do one of those pics where I'm wearing my old pants that were tight on me - and now - they are big enough to fit a hot chick in there with me.... hey maybe I'll get the hot chick to get inside with me and just forget the pic :icon_razz:

Thanks BI - I hope it helps anyone able to use the info - I knew about this for years but was afraid to try it.
I'm actually able to keep the weight off now, by this time with standard diets I'd be back at my starting weight and probably more.

Had a nice dinner steak last night with some steamed rice to soak up the gravy. Life is good!! I'm very thankful I am lucky enough for this to work for me. Thing is - it goes against pretty much everything the main stream tells us... I'm thinking they don't want people healthy, think of the meds and diet food, book, everything it about keeping people fat - unhealthy - sick - more meds - more money.

I'm blessed and need to share it - It's my calling. :icon_hat:

First - Thank You!! No it wasn't easy... oh wait a minute - Yeah it was easy.
That was the whole purpose of this thread.
To pass on real info to those I feel are most precocious to me, My Brothers in the wind.
Anything I can do to help a bro out.

I wasn't kidding about writing a diet book.

My Secret:
I stopped eating flour, grains, very sweet fruit, most leafy vegs.
I ate: lean beef, kale, water, some occasional citrus off my trees, drink 100 oz of water each day to stay regular.
I've been eating like this for over a year with excellent results and health.
I've kept my muscle and lost mostly fat/overweight/chub.

I started this thread to walk anyone through it and every reader can benefit.
MY one good deed.

Real world:
You can't cook a steak for lunch? - do it before you leave for work and eat it cold at lunch. NO Bread.
I eat pizza 1 x per year, previous 26x
I eat fast food ZEROx per year, previous 12x
Bread : 0
Flour products and deserts 0

I gave up a lot just to not gain weight years ago so going the rest of the way wasn't hard.

No, I haven't had a doughnut in years.
But being able to walk has a very high value to me, and being heavy was breaking my bones.

I'm here to answer any questions for anyone that wants to give it a go.
Be healthy.

THE OLD WAY:
I'd cook a tray of baked chicken breasts in the oven -
eat one and put the rest in the frig for the following meals.
Having the food in the frig left me open for snacking on it,
Usually eating more than one.
NOW:
I de-bone one breast, I take a med/large yellow/brown onion
cook the onion first, cook until brown and candied - gooey -
Add the de-boned and cubed chicken breast into the pan with the onion
cook until all the meat turns a nice white, careful not to overcook - it gets rubbery.

I only eat what I prepare making one meal at a time keeps me from eating more/too much.
During the loosing cycle you stay away from all carbs,
During the maintenance cycle you can add a small amount of rice -what ever your pref.

You love to cook, think of ways you can get the NATURAL PROTEIN in meats into your diet.
Keep the fat content low to loose wt.
I use olive oil exclusively to cook, except a small pat of butter to cook my eggs.

I had steak and eggs for dinner last night, with a second steak because I missed actual dinner.
no rice, no veggies, no nonsense. High protein little to no fat, no carbs.

You eat like this for a couple weeks - you'll be 10-20 pounds lighter.
I eat 4 times a day all high protein meals.

The old saying: "You are what you eat" could not be more true.
Low fat high protein, think of a LION - mean and lean, meat eater!!

Lets not kid ourselves. Food that is good for you sux. Food that is bad for you is delicious. That's the hard part. Fooling yourself into thinking eating cardboard and roof shingles is tasty. And fried whole clams, fish and chips and Chicken Alfredo does not taste good.

It has to be a 100% full on commitment or your wasting time.

Couldn't agree more!! and I couldn't disagree more!!
Yes - commitment - NO, food that is good for you is delicious.
Food I love - Steak, Chicken, Pork - I grill the steaks or sear them on cast iron, the chicken I shared my favorite recipe, pork I cook similar to the chicken, the other white meat.
I did have spaghetti and meat balls last night, pasta now and then is OK. just don't make too much.
Don't kid yourself, no one can eat fried whole clams, fish and chips, Alfredo anything everyday and think you won't have bad results.
Years of not eating doughnuts, yes i love me that fried dough, I missed it but didn't miss it.
Eventually the back ache, knee pain - etc.... vs. a healthy diet and proper body weight becomes a real decision.
Not starving myself, eating lean meat, mostly beef made me loose weight. Fact. Easy. NOT Hungry all day staring myself and then fueling my body on carbs and grease but on protein that was the basis of our actual evolution into thinking apex predators.
Not to get all nerdy, Paleo Man - the paleo diet is what I do and follow for ease of looking up what I'm on to.

Long story short: eat what we used to eat and be healthy. Early man's diet was protein not plant based. Follow the same diet as our ancestors and live a very healthy, delicious life. No they didn't have deep fried foods, but slow cooked pulled pork by the pound sounds better to me than fried foods these days. Especially now that I can see my feet again.
