Just a little something I was thinking while riding lately.
Just after that a car went over his lane to avoid a bicyclist.

Curvy roads are fun, but you have to be
carefull, especially now with runoff,
mud, and chance for rocks.

But still prefer it over the regular roads and freeways in the city.

CA passed the 3 foot law a while back - drivers must give bicyclists 3 feet of clearance when passing them. A great law for bicyclists - but in the real world - it just makes cars go out of their way. So if you're riding next to or passing a car passing a bicycle it makes it harder to stay safe...
I've also noticed that bicyclists are now "taking the lane" on these curvy roads. This in itself is a very bad idea for all. I've seen on more than one occasion some very close calls between motorcycles and bicycles. So far everyone has been lucky... we all know how that works!!
As a former professional bicycle racer - I can speak from years and many miles of experience: Bicycles need to stay off the curvy roads - period!! Here in CA there are so many other options to riding on them it just does not make any sense. Taking the lane is even a more dangerous practice - JMHO.
As for us motorcyclist, we are more apt to get into trouble because of all the laws politicians cause on us. The 3 foot law is well intentioned but making it illegal for bicycles to ride on these roads would be more appropriate.
