Just thinking about the day I picked my bike up and brought it home...
22 years ago today.
At this time of day I was riding west on the Mass Turnpike heading back to upstate NY with my bike for the first time. What a day that was. Great memories.
Drove out to NH the night before (Big Shout Out to Chuck for dropping everything and driving me and helping me with all the details). Left the house at 11:30pm and got to NH about 230am. Couldn't sleep a wink and started my day at 6am to go to Mass to pick the bike up by 7am.
Rode it back to my buddies in NH and then waited for the insurance office to open up, then on to DMV. Then the 160 miles back to my house in NY. Nice way to get introduced to my new ride...
When I got back home, all I could do was look at that beauty and keep pinching myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming... Great day and a memory that stays with me, 22 years ago today!!

Thought it might be nice for you guys to reminisce and share about when you brought your babies home. It's one of those things that makes you feel good too. :icon_biggrin:

Rode sports bikes for many years, saw a 1997dynaglide in a dealers window,he was closed but I couldn't get bike out of my mind.went back next day and got a test ride.never ridden a Harley but fell in love straight away. Riding bike on a dual carriage way and it started to splutter, reached down and fumbled around for fuel tap, when I found it I didn't know where reserve was and came to a halt in the road, big line of cars behind me and as I got off bike to push it into kerb saw a blue flashing light behind me,a cop on a bike. I thought oh no (or words to that effect) I am in trouble again, the cop came over and said " the only reason I stopped was to see if I could help", there aren't a lot of cops like that over here. We found reserve and he pointed me in direction of nearest fuel stop.had enough fuel to get me back to dealer on reserve, so I fired motor up and set off.had a great ride back and negotiated a deal to part ex a big sports bike for the Harley,I have never looked back and that was twelve years ago.i will never sell that Harley it has never let me down and it has given many years of great riding experiences.if you really want to experience life get a Harley.cant beat 22years RK but I'm on my way bud.

Nice story Rod,
It's funny how that memory sticks with you isn't it? The first time you saw it... That first ride... The ride home...
I get a warm fuzzy this time of year - back to a time when all I could do was think about riding my new bike. Yeah now she's like an old friend. I never had a horse, but I'm sure to a cowboy - his horse was his best friend. My old bike is like that I think.
Rod thanks for the share!! :icon_thumbsup:

Thanks for the memories guys.

I knew the 1st time I hit the gas
on the 1200 Sport
that this was the one.

I got used to the forward controls
quicker than I thought I would.

Sometimes I wish I could trick it out a little.
But then I'm happy with just the way they put it together.

Nothing like a Harley!! :icon_toocool:
