As I am new to most of the Harley Forums, having just returned from 6 years in Korea working for our Government, and having just recently listed my bikes for sale on various sites, I've been hit by a "significant" number of attempted scams using pay pal, E-bay, fake or stolen cashiers and personal checks, fake or stolen money orders, and of course stolen credit cards to name just a few... There is a theme to how they do things and I've posted some of them under the thread "Beware of the Scammers" but there are numerous ways other than those I identified for them to part you from your property or money.

I've been hit so many times over the past couple of weeks that I think I could probably write a book on the ways they attempt to part you from your property.

The PROBLEM is: These scammers just seem to multiply... they are involved in scams for both sales and purchases of everything from the actual bikes to parts, etc.

I've gotten numerous personal emails from folks, some who have lost money and/or their property, to these scammers, And quite a few who have luckily detected the scam before they were made victims. But the one thing I noted is that NOT ONE OF THESE SCAMMERS seems to have gotten caught AND punished. So they just keep coming back because there is NO reason not to.

So my question is: How do we, the Harley Riders community, (and there are a lot more of us than there is of them) stop these suckers ? ? ?

I think its time we (as a community) started a concerted effort to get these guys who troll on our systems... and hopefully get them caught by whomever. At least get them publically identified. I know many are overseas (but not all) and there's no one on their side of the pond that will do anything. But if we can get them publically identified then maybe we can at least slow them down a bit.

So I open this thread in hopes we as a community can begin discuss this and help others to take in earnest this threat to our folks who want to purchase or sell their bikes, parts and other things.

Waiting for your response..... this should be interesting.

Any SCAMMERS want to participate... well... come on then, tell us how we Can't stop you.... 0

Thanks cpmack1 for taking the time to write this post. I think that the only way to fight this is educate the public like you are doing here. Luckily you are smart enough to see what is really going on. Go for it write a book or at least a pdf and send it out to everyone selling a bike and see if some on those folks will send you a couple of bucks to cover your cost.
