A friend of mine recently experienced a rear tire blow-out while traveling on the interstate. He stated the first indication of something wrong was his bike started losing power and he continued riding for approximately 1/2 mile messing with the throttle. As he was slowing down, his Ultra Classic began pulling hard to the left and then the rear tire blew. At that point the bike began fish-tailing and he was lucky to get it stopped without going down. The rear tire on the Classic had 10k miles on it, but he believed the tread was okay, so maybe he picked up something in the tire that caused the blow-out.

Is the loss of power a common sign for your rear tire losing pressure?

Thanks.

According to my friend, yes, he believes the tire was at proper psi prior to riding.
