He won 10 T.T. Races between 1923 and 1939,
He lived on the Isle of Man and rode motorcycles all his life. He lapped the island circuit at 82 mph in 1957 (The Golden Jubilee) aged 54
He was a wealthy man when he died aged 90.

I like that, Kickstand. Just goes to show you that money does not always bring happiness....BUT, it buys HD's, therefore, invested right, you should live a long (provided you don't crash and burn) and happy life. They just didn't know how to spend it.

Words of Wisdom, my friend!!

Success for me is making it home from work with all ten fingers and toes.

And getting some @*%%# once or twice a month.

I don't think any of us here are gonna even remotely have a life with an income that sucks the marrow from our bones like those extreme cases mentioned. Everybody here seems to be average Joes. Working 40+ hours to simply cover the mortgage of a modest home,a car or 2 and if lucky a motorcycle. That didn't use to be that big of a deal.

Over the years the USA seems to have been divided into 2 categories. The "haves" and the "have nots". If you have a job, a home and a car that makes you a "have". Anyone can be a "have" if you're willing to put in the time/work/effort. Problem is the government makes it to easy to be on welfare, subsidized housing etc.. To be a "have" means to work and if necessary 2 jobs, pretty much like anyones grandparents who moved here from the old country.

If you have a wife and kids you have obligatory responsibilities. If you don't have those responsibilities be a bum, chase windmills if you so desire.

Sunday is my day to chase windmills - the rest of the week I'm playing catch up -LOL

I always day dream about winning the megabucks, like 23 million dollars....sounds like a start of a thread...
