Heel shift lever stripped out on my bike Saturday -
I was headed over to my brothers house to help him pick up a new bike - new to him...
I hit my shift and the bike went into neutral... I hit it again and nothing happened. I looked down and saw it was dangling and bouncing around... WHAT THE HELL??? it was getting loose - I tightened it up a few weeks ago but it was still loose. I knew it was getting bad but didn't think it would strip out like it did.
It's the heel lever - I guess I really stomp on it during riding - I'm heavy footed I guess.
So yesterday I took a spin over to the HD shop - the "kid" at the counter took care of me - he looked up the part number and went into the back and pulled the part for me. I look at it and its the "front" lever. I asked him about it and he told me they don't make the back lever anymore - one part for both. Well the hex bolt is up side down and I wanted the correct part - plus they want almost $50 bucks for it - and it doesn't even come with the shifter peg... anyway I found it online here:

20 bucks - the right part - and I can go pick it up...
I don't know what the F HD is thinking anymore...

Good rebound on your behalf. Happened to me once on the Ultra..its good to have 2 shifters .

Speaking of HD...my son was slightly tardy for my Christmas present but yesterday he suprised me with a HD button down short sleeve shirt. Black w/ a small discreet orange bar and shield logo on the left pocket and a bigger one on the back. Not gaudy and I can wear it to work. I thanked him for his good taste, he got it off the discount rack .

Really lucky I have the toe shifter - thats how I"m riding it - but- I have to "think" about every shift now

Just wanted to add - I'm going up tomorrow to pick up the new one - my foot hurts from arthritis and the whole toe up shift thing isn't for me. - Getting old sux!!

Just ordered the part... it's been raining on and off the past few days - getting caught in it once was enough for me - so I waited it out.
Washed the road grime off the bike last night and took off the old broken part.

Got the part.
Inspected the part - it's even nicer than the original part...
Put it on and rode home.
I gotta tell you guys - if you need parts check this place out.
High quality and prices that don't make you need a loan officer.

Since we were on the subject-

This new part is by far higher quality than the original stock part.
This part is completely polished front and back VS the original part was just polished on the front side...
The tapped hole for the peg is centered on the new part VS the off center hole (no reason to make it that way - just wrong) on the original...
The tightening slot is longer on then new part making it tighten around the whole shaft VS the short slot on the original - basically why it stripped out in the first place.
The new part cost less than half of the current part (with screw in upside down) HD wanted to sell me.

Not all aftermarket is like this but it is nice to find one that is.
