I am 56 years old. Been riding since 13-14 years old. In my mid 20's I rode home shat faced from the local biker bar "Bonnie and Clydes" all the time. Was friends with the bartender so my drinks wer free and I'd tip her what I figured 1/2 the cost of the nites drinking would have cost. Awsome arrangment. Marjorie(fictious name to protect the innocent)..that was the bartenders name.

I'm in no way condoning it but once I threw my leg over that bike and the wind was in my face I was good. No wobbling, waveing nothing. Once I got on that bike after drinking it just filled me with even greater joy and no speeding sloppy drunken mishaps ever. Just the jubilation that one is filled with to be rumbling on an HD at midnite in the cool of the night.

It was a conundrum though...how do you ride to a biker bar and not have fun(drink) and not be over the limit? I was a shot and a beer guy(jaquins ginger brandy). I did that every weekend for 5 years. Never had a DUI to this day and take precations now not to get one. The drinking never accentuted my driving by ripping out or even remotely driving carelessly. I always had it under control.

I continued that tradition for years and years afterwards but down in NC you can take the express way home or the back roads.

Haven't dared to drink excessively and drive for over 15 years or more and will never again. But oh the great memories of those days.

Back in the 90's I had access to some premo stash - It was called "Humbolt" after the northern ca county it was grown in. I would have to agree - it made me relaxed and loose and the experience of riding was almost religious. Been years since that - but sometimes I wish I still could get some - especially when I'm feeling like I could use a little extra "space".

I never drank that much until the mid eighties but when ever I drove I drank, that was cars or bikes, and always high. Use to do what we called "T" back then all the time, goes by other names "PCP" ketmine, K2, horse tranquilizer. Stuff was great liked the orange flats the most. Never got a dui till 85 then on my chopper in 89 or 90. Don't have those problems anymore, gave up drinking in 92 or so and all drugs labor day 96. wow have I accmulated a lot of stuff since then. life is good, it has been a hell of a ride!!!!!!

I used to drink whiskey shots with beer when I was in the military. Mostly Jack Daniels or Jim Beam, but there was some local stuff in Panama we called Seco... wierd stuff. We used to say a man would have visions drunk on that stuff. I had some friends that were into nose candy and they always got enough for everyone. It was cheap and plentiful down there... mary jane was as well. I never got hooked on anything, but we had some good times. I went a little crazy for a couple of years. I can remember being in the Ancon wound up on blow, surrounded by hookers, and smoking a joint. Oh yeah... and drinking a beer. Beer is like water, it goes with all occassions.

My oldest brother was sent to the pen for a crime he committed while on acid. My mom took me to the sentencing phase of the trial (I was 11) and it left a lasting impression on me. One of the best lessons I ever learned in this life... I always knew if things went too far what I could expect.

I really don't drink anymore. No problems here just not on my radar. I do cherish alcohol over load when with good friends whenever the rare occasion presents itself. It sucks when old time friends do visit and because of past substance abuse issues they no longer drink. I guess I'm spacing my substance use/abuse over a long period of time and they crushed there alcohol abuse in a short period of time and got it over with, lol. :icon_whee:

If a person can control thier up uptake of alcohol, I don't see the problem. All things in moderation. I have respect for those folks that conquered their addiction and didn't look back. I have known a few that ruined thier careers with drug or alcohol addiction.

I keep a little in the fridge and from time to time buy a kind that I have never had just to try it. If it's bad I pass it on to my father in law. Killians Irish Red... so far is the best I have had. Miller Light is a good anytime beer. Tramp Stamp has a cool bottle, but does not taste that good. Just about any blonde taste good.

Same here. I have a couple beers in the frig - I really like it when I make the hot chicken wings. Some things just go together. On the rare occasion I have friends around, I like the slight over load myself. Makes for funnier stories. I had a frosted mug with miller high life at a friends - for some reason it just tasted so good... must have been the company.
