I just put my 2003 Heritage on craigslist. I would much rather give a regular Joe a deal on the bike rather than the dealership. I got that bike April 28th 2006. It has seen me through some good times and bad... and a lot of miles in between. Rode to Coco Beach Florida from Spring Tx in 18 hours once. I have done some fun stuff in my life, even jumped out of planes, but that ride to Coco beach was my most favorite adventure.

If I don't get a decent offer on the bike I may keep it and customize it, but for now it's on the market.

A good ride lasts a life time in memories. Only a lucky few get them. Enjoy what you've earned.

Kickstand...you'll be happier worrying about one bike. Yes I still have my 1983 and which is sitting covered in the shop part of my barn.

And by doing it like you are you should be able to offer a fair price and still make more then if you let her go in a trade. Dealerships literally rape you on trade in but its both KBB and NADA proces most often. Maybe the dea;lership gives some credit for any extra whats nots you've added but not always.

I know when I traded my 2001 Ultra and 1998 sidecar Ultra I lost easily 3-4000$ on the trade in versus resale value. The first offer was even worse. KBB trade in for both was $15,500. I was fortunate and ended up getting 18,500$. On the other hand I didn't want to F around with the trying to sell and for me the loss was acceptable for a quick grab and go sale.

A 2003 Heritage Softail Springer still commands a hefty price tag...retail value anyways; KBB has her at 14,150$. Trade in value would only be 10,425$..quite a difference. Good for you and good luck.

PM me if you're interested in another place to advertise along with craigs list. Adn by the way that 2003 Heritage is one nice looking bike.

IS this you:

I wish that was mine :icon_laughing: It has 13000 miles on it... Mines at 89k and little more broke in.

:icon_cool_too: Mine is here: https://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/3366437594.html

It would be nice to get 10k.... or even 6500, but more than likely I will have to take less. You just never know who's looking.

I have never been a good salesman.

That's true. We still have kids at home (4 at home 2 grown)... and will for many years. BI63 has given me some good advice on integrating my motorcycle into our family vacations where everyone wins. We are going to start the "new plan" next year. Most of my miles are commuting and day runs with a couple cross country.

Back in the day - the old man would pile all us kids and the old lady, in the station wagon and take us all up to Saratoga Lake. They'd make up a great BBQ and picnic while we swam in the lake...
Having a childhood with motorcycles must be a blast.

Thats a seriously good price. If it doesn't get scarfed up quick the new HD generation are more uninformed then I imagine. Those motors, if taken care of are bullet proof and worth the 3000-3200$ to refurb them and thats from the factory too:

When I was growing up we had motorcycles. My dads last bike was a Honda CB 550. He never got another one. I have offered my Heritage to him anytime he wants it, but he won't. He is in his 70's.

I hope to get my youngest two boys into motorcycles or at least 4 wheelers. The middle two are girls and they are not so much into the idea of riding them. My oldest son wants a bike, but his old lady don't like the idea... One day it would be cool to take a cross country trip with all my son's on Harleys. I honestly believe each man has to make the decision to ride on the streets on a bike for himself. I never encourage anyone one way or the other... it has to be a personal decision due ot the risk involved.

I didn't even know they offered that program... good grief. They will finance it as well. There are always a lot of bikes listed in the area. I haven't got one email about it.

Would you have kept the Heritage not bought the Wide Glide and refurbed the Heritage motor instead? Factory refurb has to be top of the heap of engine refurbs.
