I spoke with BI63 yesterday, and if he can swing it, we're going to spend some time together hitting the Wisconsin haunts. Naturally we might hit "The House on the Rock." And I do have to take him to the big plaster cow outside the DeForest off-ramp to buy cheese. For some reason, tourists like to have a picture taken there.
Any of you guys formulating plans? What do you have planned?

We're going on a ride with some friends, to Durango, Ouray, Silverton, Telluride and other places in the Colorado and New Mexico area. We went with these same folks to the Yellowstone area last year and had a blast. Ya'll enjoy your trip!

Deadeye..was in that exact area end of 2010. The run from Durango to Montrose on Hwy state route 550 is the best road I have ever been on...scary. There is also a place4 called the silver Threaad: https://www.coloradodirectory.com/maps/silverthread.htmlIn Ouray is an authentic cowboy hotel called the Western: we stayed there and it was only 30$ for the night. Its not near the amenities as a typical hotel but the experience was great. Excellent bar and restaurant. Same everything as it was back in the 1800's, interesting history and story behind the place. I'll post the link in the next post as it won't let me here.

Here is the linlk for the Historic Western Hotel in Ouray. https://historicwesternhotel.com/Also its worth it if you have the time to rent a jeep and toodle around the trails between Silverado and Ouray.

When the riding season goes full swing, we ought to post pics and anecdotes on the trips. I'm thinking about getting a bike video camera to take films of where I've been. In the late 1940s my dad took films of a trip he and my mom took to Yellowstone. Yikes, the place really looked primitive then.
Sometimes I take a ride and find an unusual landscape or event, and my wife isn't with me. Because I go exploring on the Sportster, I never know what I'll find and the camera would be great.
I'm indoors during the winter, and I'd like to see videos of your rides in warmer areas of the country.

Yes, we have two digital cameras, but my problem is always forgetting mine until I find something interesting. My idea of the video camera is that many times the thing is seen only from a moving bike. In that case I could just flip a switch. I even have been researching those video glasses so that the scenery can be recorded by simply looking at it.

About camera's there are a couple of ideas, I have a digital camera and what you want to get is the smallest and thinnest one that you can find. Keep it in you shirt pocket and as you are riding you can take pictures, it takes a little practice but it's doable. It has worked well for me and I get most of the pics that I want. There is a helmet video camera that you can buy from what I understand they work great. Wherever you look at you get the video. GoPro video camera check it out.

Yes, I'm thinking of the GoPro, and I have added their website to my 'favorites' list. I have two bikes to get out of winter jail right now, and Betty might need new feet. You could help the cause and start collecting expensive cutlery...
