If you're going to store your bike - you'll probably need to keep the battery on a tender. I've also heard that you should keep a piece of cardboard under the tires so they don't oxidize from the ground contact or get a flat spot. Don't know if it's all true but when I wasn't able to ride regularly, I used to keep my bike on a tender - one over night charge once a week kept the battery fresh.
My dealership recommends it be on the tender all the time out here. With the dry heat in the summer out here they say it will lengthen the life of the battery.
