Back in ’95 I wanted to push myself a little.
I set up to ride from Mpls to Tempe on March 7th to the 9th.
As it turned out Sun the 5th 10 inches of snow hit the twin cities area.
I had half a block of alley that I had to shovel to get out to the main well traveled road.
I took off on Tuesday the 7th but by Albert Lee, MN the roads were iced over.
I had to turn around and come back. I told the wife that I was going to take the car.
She is not one to usually call me a wimp, but did. She told me to rent a U-Haul one way south of the ice.
I called and it cost me $125 one way to Kansas City, Misery. Unloaded and went from there.
Helmet, hunting boots, snow mobile suit, heat packs in gloves and boots. Still darn cold.
At one gas stop the engine would not slow down when I shut off the gas and pulled the clutch.
Linkage froze, but by the time I filled up it melted and was fine.
Stopped at a motel in Oklahoma and filled the tub with hot water to try to warm up.
Northern part of TX a little snow was on the road in the morning still from 2 days prior they too got snow.
Half way thru TX the front went thru and the temps got warm. I still kept my gear on since I was cool inside.
Got down there for work on Friday conversion. 32 cents per mile was a nice money making proposition.
I had to stay till Wed for work.
All went well until Sunday morning when my #60 - 1992 – fxdb Daytona was no longer in the parking lot.
Bummer.
The ride was nice and peaceful – or maybe it was the hypothermia.
Weird getting on a plane with a helmet in hand.

Good story, I'm a little lost? What happened to the bike? :icon_rip: OFF! Is that it?

I suspect I will never know what happened to it.
