Went to Laconia for the day early in the week. Mostly got o the race track and check out test ride new models. Indian, HD Suzuki and others are there. HD has the most liberal test ride. Indian tried to be as liberal but first 2 Indians out of the gate crashed coming out of the parking lot.

Some great pics.
I miss the girls from back east. California girls aren't as something... IDK

We didn't do Laconia but we did do Americade. I'm retired now, the wife is semi-retired. We took the RV and our Harley and Victory up to dead center of n.y.s. just north of Utica for the summer. Wanted to get away from the heat/humidity of Va. summers. We put on 3400 miles during the 3 months we were up there. Some great backroads all over that area....& spreading out 100 miles any direction from Utica. Did some longer trips too with friends but most of the miles were put on on our own exploring rinky-dink backroads off the beaten path. Kept us busy most of the summer.

I though Americade sucked this year. They condensed it in a manner that suited the vendors and not the participant riders.

While hunkered down in NYS did you hit the finger lakes region and wineries? Did you check out the Glenn Curtis museum in Hammondsport?

I had quite a year while I had my bike back in new york. Originally from upstate/Albany I know the area well. The roads are some of the most scenic in the country. I have so many great memories from that region of the country. Great riding, nice people, food off the scale cooking. We did a ride one day. 3 of us rode up into the local mountains - cold day in the fall 1995 we were freezing. Came across this out of the way resort/restaurant with a Bavarian theme - the food was hot and delicious and the service was some of the friendliest, made it hard to leave.

I found some similar rides out here, 300 mile days tho. NY/back east the scale is smaller, the same rides are half the mileage.
Here you find yourself crossing a part a desert or a mountain range that is much more technical with higher speeds and less to see.
The desert looks like the desert. We do a trip to "Apple Country" - which is a joke to me coming from Upstate NY and Apple Country.
Anyway- some great riding out here just got to go farther to get to it from where I live. My days with a brand new bike and roads I grew up on were bucket list fillers and some of my best mc memories. I highly suggest to anyone to tour the area if the opportunity arises I agree it is well worth it.

Cool stuff BA. My wife and I are getting ready to semi-retire in a couple of years. Probably going to get a second bigger bike just for traveling.
