Tell us what is your favorite road to run and where it is.

My favorite road is "Ortega Highway" runs from the I5 to Lake Elsinore also known as California State Route 74.

Beeline Hwy: McDowell RD to Payson is fun. Allot of winding 6% grades.

My favorite ride of all time for just getting out and smiling has to be and will always be the Krumkill Rd. Loop. Back in Albany NY there is/used to be more likely with urban sprawl, a nice little road that took one out into the farm land on the outskirts of town. With dead mans corner, the blind bridge & take off straights the road was as much of a challenge as you made it. The faster you went the harder it was to come home unscathed. I used to go that road every night the roads were dry enough to ride it. During the summers I'd bring the GF and treat her to soft serve ice cream at the little seasonal ice cream stand. Probably just a romantic memory more than anything else... but still my favorite for just going and enjoying.

Out here in the mass of population that is So. Cal. - Ortega is a great ride, probably went 30+ times last year alone. It is one of the very few rides that we get to go with little or no freeways. So, yeah I'd have to agree with it being in my top 10.

I like the Road to Crystal Lake and up and over Glendora Mountain Road - you will scrape your floorboards!! Only problem with that ride is all the traffic from the picnic people that really are bad/poor drivers... ruins it on most weekends.

ACH - Angles Crest Highway, the Alps of So. Cal, beautiful ride - 40 miles of freeway before and 50 miles after... kind takes the fun out of that one for me.

Borrego Springs Loop is another one that is beautiful and majestic but too hot most of the year - Borrego Springs in the desert and a 300 mile day.

There is one place on Earth that I've ridden that I absolutely love - Generals Highway in Sequoia Nation Park - Only hitch is it's 400 miles from home... To ride in the Park is a dream come true, the smell of those Sequoia's is amazing. Like a cedar but more red wood... hard to explain but once you've smelled it you won't forget it - and - yes it will leave a mark on your memory.

Just had a great ride on Saturday.
Got some sunburn to show for it.

Coolest part is, from my house in San Fernando Valley,
you don't even have to get on the freeway...

I was looking for The Rock Store,
and made a wrong turn, but it turned out
to be a super ride!

Ended up on top of a mountain with
a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean.
That's just where I ran out of fuel.
Switched to reserve and was praying all the
way to the gas station.
Ever been there? :icon_redface:

Mulholland to Cold Canyon to Piuma (left).

Nice ride... I always said "there is no such thing as getting lost riding a motorcycle" just more to see and enjoy. I got a chuckle out of the reserve tank story... been there and done that more times than I care to admit. IF I can make a suggestion about the "sunburn". A few years back I bought a mesh riding jacket, padded, armored and like air conditioning in the CA sun. I did a few threads on it, you might want to look into one for yourself. I never leave home without it - it is cooler (temperature wise) than a tee shirt. Also I look like a movie star in it :icon_laughing:
