Headed out Thursday morning at 0730 hours and met my friend Mike on his '09 Goldwing at Denny's for a day starting breakfast of coffee, pancakes, eggs, coffee, cheese and hash browns, coffee. Headed back on the road by 8:20am. Foggy, cold and 45 degrees. By 10am the fog cleared and it was warm.

Thanks to his GPS we were able to meander the back roads of America to both Plum Island and Gloucester while passing thru scenic towns like Ipswitch,Newburyport, North Shore, Peabody etc.... Saw many many cool things but because we don't have bike to bike communications I wasn't able to get as many photo ops as I'd like to. The biggest bone of contention I missed was when we passed thru Wolf Hollow in Ipswitch,Mass. I really really would have liked to stop and see that.

One cool photo op I did get was in Gloucester. It was the Fisherman's Memorial for all those lost at sea. On the plaque with the names list for 1991 was the 6 seaman lost in that movie, "The Perfect Storm."

And you don't hit that area without stopping for fried clams and lobster so we stopped at Bobs:

If you like sea food it was the sh*t. Prices weren't bad at all.

Coming home we took the express route back via st rt 128s to I95s to I93n. WTF.......traffic of epic crazy what? People knowingly cutting you off or trying anyways and at high rates of speed. It was a jamming parking lot of kill or be killed until we got past Nashua/Manchester,NH.

All total we did 335 miles that day. I like a GPS. Its not perfect but it does allow a rider to accurately navigate thru some lesser known areas of back roads America.

I do have a few photos but I do not know how to post from my camera and it'll be at least another ride before I get the pictures on a disk to do so. Until then please feel free to say no pictures it didn't happen.

Thanks for sharing the journey. I don't have a GPS on my bike, yet. The Wolf Hollow does sound interesting and Bobs sounds cool as well. Someone told me the Lobster up yonder is the sniz... or was it the clams? When I am up that way, those two will be on my list. I'm glad to hear you are getting some riding in. Winter is coming. Time is flying by.

Then you might want to give this a look....https://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89338

I was thinking about getting it but my Zumo 550 is still trucking along. But mine doesn't have the lane assist like the one in the link. The Zumo are expensive but i've had mine for over 3 years. Its survived rainstorms getting bounced down the freeway when i got hit by a car and it works like a champ.

Back roads New England is interesting and sometimes scary. If, when in Maine and on the back roads you will feel Stephen Kings inspiration...

carpenter..it was like that for me in the beginning of the season. I had big plans which just weren't materializing.

I only get 1 weekend off a month and my weekend off in May-June-July-August-September, somebody always seemed to have something for me to do. Either a new grandchild was born, another coming to visit BUT I was the one to pick up and bring back. Somehting. It was driving me nutz. I finally just started saying F'it and heading out during the week as I was able for at least day trips. Cutting grass and home maintainence as weather permitted.

Life just ain't fair. I'll have plenty of time if I live to be 70...................

BI,
Great POST!! Thanks for sharing - I have been up that way, I grew up in upstate NY and during that time I went all over the north east corner. I love those roads and I have lots of roads to compare them to. Some of my most memorable rides were back there - the roads, the food, the old friends... The one thing i really miss out here - no fish fries - ANY WHERE !?! Fried clams were one of my favorites.
Plum Island was a road trip we took almost 30 years ago - I'll bet it's not the same place anymore.

AS for the pics...
Camera to computer, you need a connector cord - one end is fitted to the camera the other into the computer. Once you plug them together, open the windows explorer, not to be confused with the "internet explorer". You will see the camera listed as a folder, open it up and there are your pics. Drag and drop into the computer and you will probably have to re-size them for up load to the forum. When you are ready give me a call - I'll happily walk you through it.

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.
PICK ANY 2....
