rode to rhode island yeaterday. Left at 7:30am, got to my destination at 11am. About 180 miles one way. Hung out a couple hours then headed home. Kinda rusty. Stops and starts weren't the smoothest. Could feel my over all awkwardness. Started off about 55 degrees and topped out in the 70's.

Important is i got there and back in good shape. Damn lower-glove box almost wouldn't stay shut. Had to hold it closed for a few seconds before it would catch. As of yet thet do not make a locking door for it yet.


Saw a funny hillarious thing. I rode the back roads down,,,,rt 12, rt 149, rt 2, I-190, I-290 to 146 etc....anyways going thru one of the small towns a auto grage repair business built a huge sign facing the road with 2 foot letter saying "DRUNK TONY IS A THIEF". I don't know who drunk tony is but i'm sure the locals do,lol.

Long story short back in April 2017 i got a pneumonia which resulted in a C6 nerve palsy in my right eye causing me to see double......wore a patch till February 2018. Seeing out of one eye i figured its best not to ride the motorcycle. Couldn't see to the right periphery.

Fast forward to February 2018 they decided it wasn't going to self heal so they put a prism in the right lense of my glasses allowing me to see normal. Thank you Jesus to be seeing normal from both eyes again. I am back in the saddle again.

Vision is nothing to mess around with - my friends sister had eye surgery a couple times in the last 5 years and they botched it both times. She finally got a good doctor and luckily they were able to fix her back up. I guess if you have a good doc you got half a chance...
Hope you keep both eyes on the road and not on all those fancy bells and whistles on that bike of yours.

The gadgets and gizmos can be a distraction but i set up prior to heading out. I find them to be a blessing...xm radio, gps, weather band...good stuff.

I have the helmet wired, bluetoothed to the phone in the saddle bags. I put my wrist watch around the handlebar. I mounted my mini clip board to the other side with a waterbottle clamp from a bicycle shop -
I'm an analog kind of guy: 3x5 index cards with big letters route numbers and turns, clock to tell time, road atlas the night before. Been doing that way since... aint gonna change now.
But - I'm all for the goodies if that is the way you roll. EVERY ONE I KNOW HAS IT THE SAME WAY AS YOU. Me - all I'm waiting for is joining the rest of the dinosaurs in the end - A LOOOOOOOOOOONG WAY FROM NOW!!

Best part is - You are out enjoying that big beautiful bike of yours and that my friend is all good

Those little goodies/amenities really take much of the work out of the ride to a point. I still use a map but as I get closer the GPS gets you to the door step. Love the stereo/speakers and XM radio for continuous channel play.

If you ever come over to the dark side of modern technology you will have one regret.....that you didn't do it sooner.

Yeah - there's a reason I stay away from all that stuff - just hand me your cell phone and watch it stop working - I can only use a cell when I'm not touching it cause for what ever reason it gets all static the second I touch it.

GPS is also fun around me, believe me- I get in my buddies car and we get lost. Paper maps, a pen and index cars work - no static.
