I just got a wild idea after talking to Eddie in the chat room -

How about we put a ride schedule together for next summer.

He's Planning to go to Sturgis.

badinfluence63 is planning his Alaska trip - I'd like to join him on his way back east. I'd most lkely ride north up the pacific coast - A ride I love and the farther north part I've yet to do. Then east to a meet up point. I've never gone the route he has planned so having another rider along would be a win/win situation for both of us. I know of one other person that might be along if he can - he'll know when he reads this - haha. After I make my rounds in my home town for a week I'll be heading south to North Carolina to visit family, then take the southern route back to CA.

Anyone that lives on or near the route that wants to do a leg or just get out and say hi would be cool.
Take a bunch of pics and post them. In reality that is a 3 week trip and very few people these days can get away for 3 weeks. But if they could plan for it far enough in advance who knows?!?

So anyway Those of you with rides planned for next summer here's a thread to post for riding info and other riders that might want to join to a destination.

Eddie - I might just go with you - August 2014 is far enough away to start planning now.

I forgot the route details of BI's Alaska trip - I'll look them up.
I was just looking at the map - 6 days of east travel - I'm giving myself a couple hours a day for sight seeing.
I can see that I can keep it realistic if I do a more direct route to a meeting point than up the coast and then east.
I'll do the coast as a separate ride so I can take my time and enjoy the scenery.

I'm working on a route plans.

Just to throw this out there - Anyone planning a ride to the south west / west coast area - I've been out here for a long time if you need any info let me know.

This would be a good time to bring up a Forum Meetup - center of the country was on the table last I remember.

Just a preliminary route because August is a way's off
17 to Flagstaff
hit the 89 to Tuba City
hop on the 160 to the 191 strait into Utah and all the way to the 70
the 70 to Denver
then hit the 25/87 to Cheyenne Wy. to the 26
the 26 to the 270
the 270 to the 20/18 up to the 18/85/14 strait into Sturgis and Rapid City.
Then bike rally time.
It looks like allot of cool winding minor highways from Phoenix to Sturgis. Going through the Rez. will be fun. I've been through a couple of times.

Hello RK,EddieB and DS.

I'm heading out 6-20-14 and should be back home by7-23/24-14 or sooner even, God willing and the creek don't rise. Hoping to be in Dawson Creek,BC in 7-8 days and an option to lay low in Dawson for some R&R for a day or so? I have a solid contact in Ft. Nelson,BC.

I read it takes anywheres from 3-5 days to go one way on the ALCAN to Fairbanks. Hard to nail specific times because so much can happen, weather, mechanical issues etc...

I figure to hope to be heading back home by at least 7-13/15-14. We will stay in touch via phone and crucial junctures RK in the event you are able to head east.
