Well stay at friends longer than I thought I would,happens all the time.

His wife gets a call about tornado up north,so I look at weather on her laptop and decide to head home before they build up.

Going through last town before my town and I hear their tornado alarms start up, I see bad looking storms to north west from me and stormchasers on hwy.

I get few blocks from home and the worst wind rain I ever experienced hit me and even a little pea size hail!!
Get bike in garage and its just goes crazy outside, surprised no damage in town.

I went back to nearest town,the one the alarms went off in...trees down and sheet metal all over the place.....I gotta pay more attention to weather...lol

Close call..way to close!!

You guys always get the smack down. When I was thru there back in 2011 it was right behind Katrina or Irene I forget but houses were under water by 1/2 a house everywhere. The Branson HD was under water too. That sucked. Had to invoke a ferry in one place where the road had washed way out to get across. That was cool. Good times. Be safe.

Years ago my brother and I were driving a moving van cross country. HOT - HUMID... going through Missouri we had to stop cause it was so brutal. It was better while riding so we got back on the road. We got into OK mid day as we went farther west it got darker... & darker... then darker than I have ever seen before or since. IT started to rain the rain of an Apocalypse - visibility down to feet in front of the truck. We hit the hazards and kept rolling as fast as we could to keep in traffic and be safe... 15 minutes of terror. We drive out the the other side of this storm like something out of Twilight Zone. One second - dark - then like driving under a bridge the rain stops and the sun is out.

NOT so fast - to the south is the front coming at us like a wall of gray. We put the peddle to the metal and as we went west the front broke up and then we saw it - A tornado miles away that looked like it was chasing us. That thing was huge and I can sympathize with anyone that ever got in ones way.

These days - the first thing I do is check out the weather. Even here in So Cal where the sun always shines it make sense to check all the resources before a ride. We can have a wind storm or a fire storm - you don't want to ride in either.

you may have similar resources in your area - it's one thing to get caught out when you have to - but if you can avoid it...

Getting wet or cold is one thing... getting dead in a tornado is another lol.

Real bikers don't check the weather... lol

(or if your like me you forget to check and when your miles from home and knee deep in rain you think to yourself... it didn't feel like it was going to rain)

I'm always looking at the weather forecast, If no other reason than my job sometimes revolves around weather condition..mostly rain!

I knew that the forecast was for thunderstorms in the late evening and planned on being home by 4:00 pm??

While at friends looked at their laptop and thought I would have no problem getting home..............I was wrong..LOL

I never think of checking the weather out here. I just hop on my bike and go. It's got me in trouble a few times.
A couple years back I had to go somewhere at midnight. It was about around a 20 mile ride. It was also the dead of winter. My wife couldn't believe I was taking my bike because there was rain in the forecast. I didn't care because I've ridden in the rain before and the way I figured it just doesn't get cold here. What I didn't know the forecast called for a freezing rain and for it to get down in the teens in the valley. I know the teens is child's play for some of you but we just aren't used to that sort of thing out here and we don't know how to dress for it. I made it to my destination but to my disbelief I actually suffered a bit of hypothermia.

I check the weather but up here the weather people are inconsistant at best. On more than one occasion they call for rain and it never rains. BEst bet is to just go unless it says 100% chance and even then it might not rain?
