So I bought used Leather saddle bags and a fork bag , they are in great shape but a little stiff . I tried saddle soap and seem better but still not quite right . Is there anything better or keep trying the saddle soap . I don't want them too shinny so they match my seat . Thanks Vince

I would just use the saddle soap or anything like that. IMO the sun dries out leather and the more moisture that you put back into it the more supple it will be.

I have to agree with Lenny on the moisture makes the leather more pliable. I can remember when my leather boots would get wet and then after I dried them out they'd be stiff. Use some boot cream and bam they'd be soft again. If the stuff you are using isn't doing the trick, try a different brand / product till you find the one that works with that leather. I've noticed that different products have different results on different types of leather.
Hope it helps.

Be careful when getting leather wet with water, it actually dries it out and hardens it.
Read and follow the directions on the product, any time I've used any leather product it said "do not use water".

Vince, when I bought my last harley with leather saddlebags they included a jar of what looked like clear shoe polish but more like vaseline. Granted these bags were new. I hand rubbed two coats into the leather and they come out beautiful. I think that it will make you leather darker test it first if you try this type of product.
