Just had my rear shocks stiffened,
and it made a big difference.

I was all the way on softest, lowest setting
and man, I was bottoming out a lot.

I thought maybe I would go all the way to stiffest,
but tech put it in the middle,
said he went 2 clicks,
you can still go 2 more.

Plus, just got that new tire on the front.
So good to go!

At some point obviously I'll have to do the fluid changes
this year... Down the road...

+1 on firm shocks for better handling. I have air suspension on my bike, the bike rides and handles the best with the max air in the system. As a mater of fact, when the bike starts to not ride right it's because the air needs to be pumped back up.

The other is good tires... I keep mine at top pressure, bike seems to ride smoother and better gas mileage.

Have you noticed any extra squirreliness
of rear tire
when you're up a little higher.

Maybe it's just this new Michellin C2
never had that when I was sitting lower.

My bike doesn't change height when I add pressure to the suspension. If yours does then it will change your center of gravity, which in turn will change the handling. Maybe slightly but maybe enough for you to feel a difference.
The other thing is new tires have a waxy coating that takes a few hundred miles to scuff off. But- that shouldn't be an issue by now...
My thoughts: you can back the shocks off one click to see if it helps - compromise is what it is all about. you may loose a little in the stiffness but lower the bike back to a more comfortable stability. OR ride it as is for a while to make sure the tires are good and sticky and see if you can get used to the higher ride position.
Just take 'er easy until you get it figured out.
