speedometer issues

Ok I give up, what's the issues? If it is erratic needle and directional not canceling, the problem could be metal on the magnet. To find your speedometer sensor look at your transmission from the right side. The sensor is in the top of the tranny case toward the rear at the edge where the door bolts to the case. It is kind of oblong about 1 1/2 inches with one wire coming out of it and one Allen head securing it. Take the Allen out then turn the sensor so you can pry it up from the hole. Once you take the Allen out the only thing holding it is the oring, just work it easy and even, when you clear the orang you can just take it out. If there is hair over the end of it take it off, it is metal from your tranny. Clear it all off the magnet and if the orang looks good put it back in the bore and push it down then replace the Allen. If your problem is something else post what it is.

IM having the same problem on my 2000 softail speedo quit and turn signals dont cancel cleaned the speed sensor no dif

yeah if the speedo isn't working the self canceling directionals won't work either - they run off of distance traveled not time.

I took my tank off recently - there is a wire that connects to the speedo - you might have to check it for a good connection - then if you have the scematics for your bike you need to see where it gets power and check that - might be a fuse of some type... Let us know how you make out.
