Hello, I just got a harley a few weeks ago. I just noticed under the chrome covers on the actual pipes themselves it started to blue. Is this just normal or should I worry about something? Thank you, I hope nothing is wrong as it is new.

My pipes are blue/purple from the exhaust ports to the mufflers on both Spinner and Betty. As was my 1971 Super Glide forty years ago...

Have no fear. As long as you make sure the download matches your modifications (or you spring for the super-tuner) everything is okay. Betty has a super-tuner, Spinner got the factory download.

There is only a one in three chance that you will spontaneously self-combust from the near proximity to these pipes.

For us it is. For a newb it's a good question.

For example, we've all heard about these leaner running motors due to EPA intervention. For all most people know that purple color could be a warning that their framus bearing is melting all over their auxiliary third wrist-pin. You know what that means...

Hey, I got questions. I'm scrubbing-in the new rear tire on Spinner. The extreme left chicken mark holds steady, the extreme right chicken mark feels as oily as Coco's butt. Aren't both sides made at the same time? :icon_point:

Right now the only blueing is on the exhaust where it bends. Its just sad to see the chrom go but I guess thats why they have those covers? I just got a bit worried because I just noticed it after putting on the new slip-on screamin eagles, but it was probably on there before hand just never looked. After I road today I felt the air cleaner housing and it felt hot. Is this suppose to be hot? Not like scalding hot but pritty hot to the touch. Thanks

Join the club. Spinner is so hot I cannot believe it. Sitting at a long stoplight feels like opening a barbeque grill. I'm thinking of an oil cooler.

I have said this before, get the right download. These new Sportsters are lean, lean, lean. The download is the way the Sporties should have come from the factory.

Heat shields work if you can find the right ones.
My original headers and pipes all had heat shields and the replacement doesn't and there is a noticeable difference on hot days.
