I own a 2011 Street Glide 103 with Vance and Hines Twin Slash Ovals slip-on exhaust. These slip-ons do not give me the deep, loud, thunder sound I love. Is there another slip-on exhaust that provides the sound I am looking for or do I have to bite the bullet and pay the $1500 for a Stage 1 or 2 kit? Thanks in advance for your help.

go to a rally or gathering and have a look around. When you hear the sound you want, just ask what they have. it will never lope like a shovel...

My bike roars when I open it up, I have the HD thunder header 2into1 system.

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.

No problem - let me know what you go with.
Maybe you'll see/hear what you're looking for like tyancey00 stated, thats how I got mine.

Did you stay with your stock header pipe? If you still have the stock pipe with the cat in it, you won't get your sound, if you get the cat cut out or get one off ebay fairly inexpensive, you'll see a big difference or go to a true dual system. I have the harley fatshotz on my 12 and had the cat cut out and it made a big difference. The header pipe on ebay with the cat cut out cost me 160.00 with shipping, alot cheaper than true duals. Hope this helps you

+1 on scrap the cat. You can listin to sound bites on youtube, it's not as good as hearing the pipes you want in person but it's a starting point.
Some day I'm going to replace my pipes. I've decided on rineharts, they have a nice low rumble at idle and they come alive when you crack the throttle.

In answer to your question, no, I did not change the header pipe. Just added the slip-ons when I purchased the bike new. So you are saying it is possible to remove the cataletic converter without having to spend the money on a Stage 1 or 2 kit. Thank you very much for the suggestion.

thecarpeter,
Thanks for your input as well. I will check into scraping the cat!
