I don't understand the recommended torque setting for the primary drain plug. It recommends to tighten to 36-60 in-lbs. What does this mean? Can I set my torque wrench for anywhere between 36 and 60. Don't understand please explain. Mike

inch pounds are much different than foot pounds - YOU NEED AN INCH POUND TORQUE WRENCH - MUCH SMALLER

DO NOT USE A FOOT POUND TORQUE WRENCH.

Yes, between 36-60 - if it's tight at 36 good to go or up to 60 if you crank on it - but - inch pounds are very small measurement so 36-60 might not be so much different.

Thanks a lot Roadking for your help. My brother had a guy do his for $20 but I wanted the experience of doing it myself. I did see one older Harley rider on You Tube put his primary cover back on and not torque it but just snugged it down. I hate to take the chance since I have the torque wrench but didn't quite understand the 36 - 60 in-lbs. This is the info I needed. Appreciate it. Mike

I would say if you can’t understand 36-60 “# you better stay away from your bike with tools. I don’t use a torque wrench for my drain plugs I tightened it probably well over 60 “#. 60 inch pounds equals 5 foot pounds. Pay the money, if you own a softail the Harley dealers sometimes strip out the drain plug, not to say Harley dealers have great mechanics but they are ok for oil changes
