Hi, i appreciate any advice, i recently purchased a 1998 fat boy, after a gas fill up i can ride about 85-90 miles, the bike stalls and won't start until i switch to reserve, This the first bike i owned with a split tank, the left side tank seems full, is it possible there is a problem with the strainer inside the tank, should i replace the petcock. i know it a real cheap part to replace, but i was wondering if it could be something else.
Thanks for any help,
Jack

Hey Jack,
Welcome to the forum! You might want to check the lines going to the petcock the one side that is full could be clogged or if there is a strainer it could be clogged. I would check these things first and then look at the petcock. Seems like an easy fix. Good luck and enjoy your new bike.

First, how big is the tank in gallons? 4? or 5?
if 4 your out of gas, and you have one left in reserve. 3 gallons at 30mpg is 90 miles.
The reserve is one gallon of fuel. if 2 sides of your take each hold 2 gallons the reason the left tank feels full is because it still has half a tank in it.
Hope it helps, Jack.

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.
PICK ANY 2....
