I replaced my cams installed andrews e-z adjust push rods.
I turned the motor over before the front cyl lifters bled down.i tried to start is (STUPID) at first it back fired I shut it right down. re adjusted the push rods
then did a compression check, at first no compression in the front cyl.
I waited 15 minutes and checked compression again. this time had full compression. I buttoned it up and now it starts and runs fine.
i don't think i bent a valve because it runs good. Can anyone out there tell my why i did not have compression the first time? I made sure i started it many times. Can't ride it yet due to the snow.
Did i get lucky and the intake lifter was just holding the intake open at first?

Welcome to the forum. My thought is that the valve could have stuck open or maybe a miss read with your tester. It depends on the cams that you installed did you go really high? Some cams will not put the valve in contact with the piston. Some pistons have a cut in the top so that this does not happen and you can go high lift. You could check if you have the shop manual see if the pistons are cut. Call the manufacturer of the cams and ask if it will contact the piston in your particular model. If you are up to the normal compression and it is running fine I would take it slow the first couple of rides in the spring and you probably will be ok. If the value was bent you would not get full compression.

I understand your frustration. First calm down and have a drink, I prefer Jack. Ok now that I read your other post Ha... you did the old finger compression test, and the bleed down was the lifter. 1. when you used your finger to do the compression test did you crank the engine for several rotations. Why it is a four stroke engine and you may have hit it on a open valve or your adjustment kept the valve open, there would not be any compression in the cylinder. 2. In all honesty Whoever sold you the cams and in the instructions it should say if they need to do any mods to the engine. After reviewing the information below I don't think that you will have any problem with your engine.

I just looked up the cams and they use stock springs and it did not have any modification specifications. If you have not increased the compression with new pistons you should not have any problems. Even tho the lifter did not bleed down that shouldn't matter it should not touch the head of the piston. You say it runs ok you are in good shape then. Hope this helps
