Hi . newbie here but riding for 40 + yrs . I have had a issue for the last 4000 miles and it's driving me nuts

When cruising at idle ( backing off throttle ) stop lights , 30 mph in 3 rd or 50 mph in 5th doesn't matter Bike ( 2002 Harley-Davidson FLHRI Firefighter Special Edition ) I bought new SHUTS OFF . Throttle open no issues . Only add ons K&N air filter and cobra slip ons and Powercomander programed for slip ons and air filter. I replaced spark plugs ( Gapped ) ,wires replaced, cleaned MAP , and I have done all other routine maintenance on her . Any ideas would be greatly appreciated . Can't afford a dealer fix at this point Old Retired FF

Shuts off? You need to be much more helpful and descriptive about how this all happens if you want help.

Does it sputter first?
Does it stop while in gear?
Does it stop when you pull the clutch in?
How often does it happen?
How much gas is in the tank?
When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

Lets start with that and work from there.

Engine shuts down but immediately starts back up when traveling on its own by momentum
While moving IE coming to a stop clutch in shuts down , and doesn't start on it own I have to restart it
Tank full
Happens after engine heats up to normal temp ALL the time
Original filter 60000 on it

Is the idle too low?

Idle fine then after it warms up shuts down as described
. EFI so no adjustment

Here's where I'd start:

Sounds like:
The idle is too low once it warms up - there is always an adjustment - I don't know where it is on your bike so you need to find it and up it,
test ride it and let us know if it helped.

I appreciate you trying to help !! If it was only a issue with increasing the idle I would not have posted here or any where else > There is NO idle adjustment to be made on a fuel injected HD . The dealer can with a computer but I know that is not the issue . As it Idles fine runs perfectly for a short while than shut's itself off

Here's my logic:

Bike runs: all systems working
Bike warms up: bike shuts down: lets go thu what it isn't
not internals - right
gotta be something that changes with heat.... the mapping on the fuel injection changes the idle after warm up -
drops the setting too low?

What else can it be:
fuel - if it works cold it's getting fuel - probably not this

Is it the ignition? usually warm ups don't effect that - low likely cause.

Fuel or spark... one isn't behaving... I'm still with fuel...

Sorry I can't do more for ya - I'm an old carb guy and gave it the old college try for you.

Seriously, if the bike wasn’t setup up on a dyno with a qualified technician you are wasting your time. Spend the 250 and save your engine.
