Ahhh, the infamous Sportster-Glide. And I would be the first in line.
However, there are other considerations--like the future and EPA numbers. I'd like to believe that with a more modern engine, direct injection and accompanying CPU, a bigger Sportster engine would be easier to modernize than something with roots in 1936.
I have seen Sportsters using shovelhead cylinders to get the inches, along with double plugs and even individual carburetors. And remember, the land-speed record of the era was a Lake City Gargantuan motor that went 265 MPH on the Salt Flats.
And comparing apples to apples, any modification you can do on a big-twin can be done to a Sportster. And yikes, I have
the receipts to prove it...
